I posted last week about my DH being sick. He is over it, but a week later, I have it. I have not thrown up, but feel very sick ( ready to throw up at any given moment) all day and have a ton of cramping in my belly (similar to PMS, but it does not go away). I feel terrible! It has been like this for 6 days already, and does not feel any better. I want to feel better. Any hints or advice?? If not, thanks for reading my rant. Maybe ranting about this ill feeling will make it go away!!

If you've been that sick for six days, I really think it's time you went to see a doctor.

One of the kids on my floor (I'm in a dorm) got really sick Friday night with a stomach bug. He's still sick now; he pretty much hasn't eaten since Friday because of it. He went to his doctor yesterday, and they told him there's a 10 day stomach virus going around

That sounds about right. DH was just telling me that it took 9 days before he started felling "better." Uhhhhh, I just want to feel good!!

As for the Dr., I am sure this is what DH had. He went to the Dr. and was told it was a bug and just needed to pass. He got some medication for the stomach cramping. I ended up taking one of the pills last night. It did not help that much, but knocked me out for the night. I know you are not supposed to share medicine, but this is exactly what DH had. Thanks for the thoughts!!

I was just reading in a magazine yesterday that if you have any "stomach" symptoms, it is not the flu. It is most probably viral gastroenteritis or food poisoning. With the length of yours, it sounds like you got the viral gastroenteritis!!! It WILL go away eventually. Hang in there.

clear liquid diet, then the b.r.a.t diet and restore those flora with acidolpholus.
bananas, rice, applesauce and toast

Personally, I love drinking Theraflu at night for nasty viruses. DH is more of a NightQuill guy. But anything that makes you more comfortable and helps you sleep will help your body recover quickly.

During the day, we usually take Tylenol Cold & Flu.

Even if you aren't feeling well, make certain to drink lots of fluids. If you're dehydrated, ask your DH to pick up some Gatorade for you.

I hope you're feeling better soon!

I think you should see a doctor, but I will tell you that it sounds just like what I had 14 days ago. Pain, cramping, tight stomach muscles as if I were flexing them but I wasn't. It was terrible. Then came the diarhea and the pain subsided a little after a couple of days, but it was still there. The doctor told me I had a gastrointestinal flu and to drink liquids, eat nothing solid, rest, etc. Took me 11 days to say I no longer feel that cramping. Thank God it is over is all I can say. It was miserable. I popped Tums and took pepto bismol when it got bad.

I hope you feel better soon. :grouphug:
