I just heard "Good Thing" on an oldies station I listen to, and it really brought back memories! I used to love Paul Revere and the Raiders, and really had a crush on the lead singer (I guess that's Paul Revere!). I am really looking forward to the concerts at Epcot next month, and was wondering if there was anybody else out there who did too! I just hope Paul Revere hasn't changed any since I saw him last in the 60's. I know I haven't.
;)

I loved Paul Revere and the Raiders also. The lead singer (with the brown ponytail) was Mark Lindsay. Paul Revere was the blonde guy who played the keyboards. I think when I am in Fla, the Turtles are playing at Epcot. Sweet!

We saw Paul Revere and Raiders last year.. and the year before at the F&G festival and they were great! In fact.. when we planned this year's trip I looked first to see when they'd be there so I'd be sure not to miss them.

We are going in Sept this year, so will miss the Flower Power Concert Series. Last year we got to see Jefferson Starship while we were there and ended up going every night they played (3 or 4 if I remember correctly). They were fantastic. If you are going to be there this year, make sure you stop by and see any of this years performers. They make for a wonderful evening!!

Orleans and Grass Roots will be there while we are. And I understand why Grass Roots is there, but I remember roller-skating to Orleans' "Still the One". Were they around in the sixties too?

sweet maxine- I look forward to the concerts every year. Sorry, Paul has gotten older! Haven't we all? But he is still as funny as ever! I've seen some great performers from the old days at the Flower Power concerts, and some that should have retired!!! I'm really looking forward to soon being able to see all the groups each year.

Stitch Inside- You are on the same time table as we are this year! Orleans first hit the Billboard charts in 1975 with "Let There Be Music"... no bells for me either. The big hits were "Dance with Me" and "Still the One", 1975 and 1976.

I'm really pleased I'll be there for Grass Roots, we usually miss them by a day or two.

I'd like to fly down just to see Felix Cavaliere and the Young Racals! Maybe next year they can book Vanilla Fudge....

Oh yeah....

well when we are going to be there May 13-17 the Turtles are going to be there.....ummmmmm.... I know that my kids think I am old.....but who exactly are they? :p

Though many remember only their 1967 hit "Happy Together," the Turtles were one of the more enjoyable American pop groups.
They were a popular light pop group and had quite a few hits in the late 60's.

I got to see Davy Jones of the Monkees last week and he was great. Caught part of the Nelsons this week and they were good also. Looking forward to seeing the rest of the groups. Took me back to my teen years. :)

Hey everyone!

I have enjoyed reading all the replies you have sent! I just now was able to check the boards as my daughter has been typing her term paper (due tomorrow!) and I haven't had access to the computer. Thanks verniebird for helping me with the singer's name. I had forgotten it---I don't know why, but I guess it must be all these brain cells going to waste. I was thinking that the Turtles also sang "Turn, Turn, Turn" one of my favorite songs from the scripture in Ecclesiastes.

Flyinglizard, are the concerts very crowded? By that I guess I mean do we have to scope out a seat or spot pretty early? I hope my teenagers enjoy the music as much as I will. I've already gotten my daughter started on the Mamas and the Papas. Now, if I could just get her to appreciate the Doobie Brothers...

"Turn, Turn, Turn" was the Byrds, I think. But I could be having a senior moment. Happens a lot lately.

Yup, "Turn,Turn,Turn" was recorded by the (Yard)Byrds. I mentioned Paul Revere and the Raiders to a 26 year old and got a blank look!!! Oh, my, am I getting that old? I'll be there at Epcot for their concert in May. Gotta love it. That, plus watching re-runs of "Laugh-In" on cable TV makes my day.

sweet maxine- If you are going to see a favorite group and you want to get pretty close to the front, find your seat about a half hour before the first set. Otherwise, you can probably get a decent seat ten minutes or so before the first show. The audience usually increases for the second and third sets, and the front seats fill early.

Certain artists draw more of a crowd, like Peter Noone, Davy Jones, because they put on a great show. Even Gary Lewis seemed to have had a big draw last year (?).

I like to get there early, and close to the front for my favorites (Starship, Gary Puckett, Turtles) and you get to see them tune up, etc. I'm an ex-drummer so that stuff reminds me of the old days. Each set is usually a little different so if it's a group I really like, I'll stay for all three sets, same seat.

Besides the Raiders, who else will you see? And yeah, I think your teens will enjoy the shows. By the way, Paul Revere can still do the "Raider Shuffle"!

Do they sell CDs at the concerts? I'd really like to get one of the Rascals as a gift.

Can someone tell me the location of these concerts and how long they last. My DH would just love to see a couple shows while we're down 5/21-25. Also, does it get very crowded - are there seats, or just stand around - wondering which of the 3 showings would be least crowded - 5:45, 7 or 8:15? Thanks, Jo

ColoradoDis- I know the Grass Roots and Gary Puckett both have "live" cd's, that they sell at the carts; both are pretty good but the GR cd is not as good as the live show. I'd like to have one of the Rascals too, but I'll bet they don't have one available. You know there are two "Rascal" groups out there, right? I don't remember what other cd's I've seen there.

Jo-Anne- The concerts are at the ampitheater in front of the USA Pavilion in World Showcase. Each of the three sets are a half hour. Usually the first set is least crowded. Plenty of bench seating!

I got to see Herman's Hermits (Peter Noone) last year and it was a thrill!

This year I think that Arlo Guthrie will be there when we're there. Didn't he do "City of New Orleans" and "Alice's Restaurant"?

flyinglizard- I'm not sure if it was even called Fort Wilderness back then, but I do remember staying at the Camp Ground at Disney World. The only other thing I remember was riding Dumbo with our family's friend's daughter who was also my part time baby sitter. She was my first crush. She had a cool sweatshirt that she gave me years later that said "Pat Paulsen for President".
