Has anyone been to the flower and garden show at Epcot? Was it great? So, So? Any must see's?

Any comments?

My DW and I went last year. It was great, but then we are garden buffs. Lots of topiaries and tons of flowers and plants all over. Epcot is normally very nice to look at, but this really enhances it. We went toward the end of the festival and didn't have problems with crowds (except Mother's Day -- the brunch was a zoo!).

Everywhere you look there seems to be a special topiary or plant display. I am not a big gardner, but it is really something to see. The Flower Power Concerts are great! They have a maize for children, I think it is called the " Dog-gone Maize". I think each week has a different them to it. Check out Disney's or Deb's site for more info.

We went last year and it wasn't an intentional trip to go during the F&G show but it was such a nice happenstance. It is beautiful and the topiaries and gardens are abolsutely wonderful to wander through. We loved meeting artists and hearing some really good gardening talks and then you also have concerts going on. My DS would not leave the child's garden in WS and it was very neat I have to admit.

My highest recommendation would be to pilot the monorail from the TTC to Epcot during the flower and garden show - it gives you such a beautiful view of some of the gardens. I really loved this time at Epcot. I can't say enough good things about it. There are hidden gems of gardens paces everywhere and in places you would least expect it.

Last but not least is the beautiful pins you can get during the show.

I would highly recommend anyone considering going to WDW during May or April to schedule their trip to go during the flower and garden show - it was not super crowded unlike the food and wine festival and it just is so lovely.

What are special about the pins and how much are they?

I like the "Flower Power" concerts. Musical groups from the 60's and 70's play three half hour sets each day, and a new group comes in every three or four days. The shows are of course free, at the American Pavilion ampitheater. Usually a lot of fun!

Besides the flowers, there are lots of vendors selling interesting merchandise that you won't find at EPCOT at any other time.

We always have a good time!

I'm not a gardening person, but my DH is. I absolutely love going to see the festival and it's such a perfect time of year to go.

We too, happened to plan a trip that was during the Flower & Garden festival last year and we really enjoyed it. Seeing all the topiaries and the beautiful flowers everywhere.

We happened to arrive in one spot in the World Showcase just as they were getting ready to let go Ladybugs. I decided to do it since my DD wouldn't. When I opened the little box of ladybugs, most crawled on my hand and started tickling it. I had my DD take a picture of all the ladybugs on my hand.

My DH said if we go again during that time, we would plan on going to some of the talks & shows.

I think if we have a choice to go during that time or some other time, we will choose then.

They sell LE dated pins, just like any other special event during the year. Last year one had Mickey carrying a basket of tomatos and another one had Minnie. A couple years ago they had a "scent" pin that smelled like roses. They usually average about $10.

We were there last year. I really only wanted to go see Herman's Hermits perform. The whole F&G experience turned out to be a pleasant and unexpected surprise, even for my DS(then 7). They had many hands-on exhibits (outdoors) from various countries that showed what some of their native crops were, how they harvested them, and ways they processed the grains, etc. My DS had fun trying out the many "machines" and techniques that were unique to those countries/crops. The people were extremely friendly, helpful, and fun to talk to. You could tell they enjoyed that people were taking an interest in their customs.

They also had butterfly and ladybug releases, but we missed them.

I enjoyed the topiaries and wonderful beauty!
