There is a big vacation extravaganza sponsored by Florida Travel Magazine next weekend (Sept. 20 ~ 22) at the "Florida Travel Centre" on Townline Road at Hwy 401, in Cambridge. Here is the website info:

I'm planning on going with my sister and BIL, who live nearby. Looks like it might be a fun time. There is an admission charge for adults of $4. with $1. going to the Grand River Hospital in Kitchener. I wish I had a child young enough to enter the contest to win a trip to Florida! It's for best Fairy Tale costume, for children 12 years and under.

Sounds like fun, would like to hear about it after you attend!

Julie, I might run into you there! I was thinking about going, don't know which day, depends on Gary's biking schedule on the weekend. I think it will be a nice outing! S

If you are there might see you also.
Depends on schedule and whether I can get DD to dress up! She hates princessy stuff! Now if it were villans! We watched the new MM, House of Villans! We really enjoyed!

dd wants to wear an old Cinderella costume. It barely fits, but she has the Cinderella look, real blondy, tall, thin. When I read the costume options, it mentioned fairy tales and Universal characters. Do you think a Disney character like Cinderella would qualify? I have a home made Winnie the Pooh costume for ds (he is 2.5) He loves wearing it. Do you think that would qualify? Thanks! S

I was wondering the same thing 'cause I have the cutest Dalmation Costume that I made DD a few years back and did it in such a way she could grown into it. I know the prize is a Universal trip but I can't recall any princess except for Glenda the Good Witch! It is a FLA Travel Show!
Hey we'll all show up in Disney Characters just to show them we need a change?!? NAH!

What to do, What to do!

We are on the same page with this. I re-read the web site and it does specifically state UNIVERSAL DAY. Maybe I'll send dd is Disney and ds in Universal LOL! I know dd has her heart set on Cinderella, ds won't care. See you there! S

Julie, what day are you going to the travel show? I have pretty much made up my mind that we'll go Saturday for the contest. Look for my kids! I'm sure we'll run into you there! Chat soon! S

Sandra, I still have to confirm with my sister but I think I will be going on Saturday too. Hope to meet you there too, Scratch ~ I'll tie my lime green ribbon to my purse. I thought they would still be "in full swing" on Saturday and not (maybe) packing up during Sunday. What time are you planning on going?

I reread the contest rules and at the bottom it states:

* Fairy tale characters can include ANY character from your favourite fairy tale or dress as one of your favourite Universal Studios Licenced Character, such as: Cat in the Hat, Grinch, Charlie Chaplin, MIB Agents, Ghostbusters, Beetlejuice, Frankenstein, Dracula, Woody Woodpecker, Scooby & friends, Yogi bear, Fred Flinstone & friends, Bullwinkle, Rugrats, Betty Boop, Marilyn Monroe, Popeye and many others.*

I take that to mean ANY Fairy Tale character OR a licenced Universal Character.

You could also call the toll free number to check: 1-800-430-2435

Bump, for Sandra and Scratch. For some reason my post above this is not showing up in the "Last Post" column.

Will be going Saturday also, 'cause desperately need a FLA fix! Since can't afford to get the real thing, I'll settle for this, plus it's going for a good cause.

Thanks for the info. I re-read the costume requirements and yes they state "Fairy Tale" and DD's teacher has the so-called "Disney" stories in a non-Disney textbook. DD won't do the cutsey thing! We'll come up with something.

Good luck and we'll see you Saturday!

I'll try to find a lime green ribbon, but haven't had much success yet but I have a Mickey Mouse Purse with the Mickey Mouse Head Motif and a Mickey Mouse Head hanging off it!

Even if we don't win it sounds like a fun thing to do for a Saturday!
