I think Dave is on target with the "why" they offer the discount. But I also think it's because no matter where you live, you usually travel away to vacation.
I moved to FL from San Diego 3 years ago. Now I fly there twice a year to visit family and FINALLY take advantage of all the great things to do in San Diego that I took for granted when I lived there.
I love living here but haven't travelled south much since moving. I think Disney starts the FL rate about 60-70 days out for unbooked cabins to try to get locals to keep the money local. (Hey what I can say? They got me this summer!)
If it makes anyone feel better, we're on deck 1 with small portholes. Enjoy your verandahs!
