Floors - Tile, Laminate, Wood or mix it up

I found a picture of my kitchen and front entry flooring. This, however, is NOT my bathroom, unfortunately.

I think T&B and I have the same floor! People always think our laminate is stone. I love it but I don't have pets. It's in our kitchen and occassionally an ice chip will get left to melt on the ground by the refrigerator. I just wipe it up and haven't noticed any problem.
I think some people confuse laminate and vinyl. When I tell people it's laminate they always reach down and feel it. Installing laminate was cheaper than hardwood but more than a high end vinyl.
Did I mention I LOVE my laminate floor?

I came home today and found that the kittens (I'm sure it was the kittens...) knocked off my son's water glass onto the floor and there was a nice puddle of water. I wiped it up and hopefully it won't be a problem, but I don't think it will be. I need to take a picture of my floor and figure out how to post it. It did come out nice and now I want to go ahead and replace some more of my flooring (one thing always leads to another when it comes to home improvement).

I know a family who put wood all through their new house. The first few weeks after they moved in, their dog literally tore grooves into the new wood flooring with his toe nails by running around the house!

I have laminate and I have complained on the threads before that it is very dusty and I am constantly trying to get it clean! Our entryway has rough stone...which is beautiful but hard to clean. We take our shoes off when we come in but the shoes deposit dirt onto the stone and then it gets carried through the house on our socks as people walk over it to get to the rest of the house. We have vinyl in the laundry room and downstairs bathrooms. Then, carpet in the family room and bedrooms. So, normal complaints about wear and tear there.... :teeth:

You should really go check out Pergo if you like the look of hardwood floors. It looks just like wood, but made out of a material simular to your counter tops. It cleans up pretty easily and is very durable. It's cheaper and doesn't need the up-keep as real wood. My mother works in a carpet/flooring store and always recommends it. She has it all over her house as well.
