Flooded POTC boats

Took the plunge two days ago and we were dry the entire ride. Our party sat in rows 5 and 6. We were extremely worried about flooding but didn't have it. Sat as two adult couples, one in each row.

Just saw this ... looks like there was a mutiny on Pirates - guests climbing out of boats ....

Is this for real or was this really a controlled evacuation made to look like guests were on their own?

I don't know. All the conversation around it sounded like the guests got out on their own after being stuck awhile.

In those pics from Pirates, it looks like the lights are on. I wonder if they are being evac'd by CM's and we just don't see them in the pics?

Just booked a last minute trip(1/1 to 1/6) to see the Osbourne Lights one last time. Haven't been on these boards in months. Very disappointed to read this, as PoTC is by far our favorite attraction at MK.

we rode it last week during MVMCP, we were seated in the 3rd row and I don't think anyone in our boat got wet. I looked at others getting off the ride and everyone seemed dry too.

Got on Pirates first week of December in the evening, three adults in the front row, and we all left with WET shoes. Was NOT a pleasant experience, especially in the evening hours, would not recommend sitting in the front.

We were at Disney World Dec.11-19, POTC is DH's favorite ride. We rode it many times, none of us got wet.

I hope so. I really don't want them to add lap bars to every ride because guests are too stupid to stay seated.

I rode in the front row a few trips ago. My right shoe got completely waterlogged after the drop. No more front row for me.

No it is pretty terrible now. We were in the front row on our boat last week and I got drenched when we went down that little drop and hit the water. I am not exaggerating either. I looked like I had ridden Kali River Rapids when I got off and our back pack was actually dripping. I have been on POTC dozens of times over the past 20 years (including the front row) and never gotten wet like this :(

I thought it was just me. We rode it 2 days ago, and I started the ride by sitting in a pool of water. Got out saying, "I didn't know I needed a poncho for this!

I rode it a couple of days ago. I never noticed any new scents.

They did add new scents...it's kinda similar to that burning scent in Spaceship Earth. I actually rather enjoy that.

I could also smell something sweet maybe fruit and spices through the market place and it seemed like a floral smell through another section of town. I love it when they add scents to help create the scene.

It does appear the lights are up and the conversation around the posting sounded like they had been sitting for awhile. I would think on long stoppage lights would come on. It would not be a stretch to imagine an evacuation might have to happen.

I have been evacuated on Pirates and I tell you there was a swarm of CMs that came out to do so. CMs were also stabilizing the boat as guests were helped out. Also there was no guest to guest helping one out of boats, CMs were the ones assisting you out of the boats. When we were evacuated, the minute we were out of the boat they were sending us out, not standing around in the scenery. Based on experience these pictures appear to guests getting out on their own.

Even if they were sitting a while they have no idea if these boats will start up again and then what?

I didn't know about this and they put my family of five - with a 6 month old- in the front row. We all got soaked as did her diaper bag with all our supplies and spare baby clothes. Really not impressed. No reason to put a baby in the front row to get splashed in the face like that.
Wow! I would have been livid as well! The CMs know the splashing is an issue, they should NOT be putting infants in the first row.

I'm going to Disneyland February - their ride isn't like this right?
I got splash mountain wet at DLR. Both in the first row and 3rd row. I've never gotten that wet on any prior dlr visit, which as my signature shows is quite a few (always riding POTC more than once per trip).

So, yes, this issue is happening there also.

New scents? I hope it isn't dirty water you are smelling. :)

Joking aside, I didn't know they had added smell effects to the ride. Smells always make a ride more authentic.
The scents aren't very noticeable.
