Flooded POTC boats

Later that night my nephew went on and he said everyone in their boat start panicking as water was about to spill in from the rear right side. Everyone from the ride side of the bottom scrambled to the left and it finally evened out, but everyone was sitting on top of each other for the rest of the ride.

Wow. It's really time to shut the ride down until they can fix it.

Now we are of course facing water issues with the boats.
rteetz: I remember discussing this with you early last Spring on the Disney News subforum. I was soaked sitting in the front row on POC early last Feb. Not just a bit wet. Full drench. When I returned late Oct/early Nov this Fall, I only managed to ride POC twice during a 2 week vacation because it was closed so often for boat-related problems. Often down for 4+ hrs at a time every day. CMs at a neighbouring ride (Jungle Cruise) have also confirmed the rumours that the boats are causing havoc. They know because their attraction is now taking the overflow from unhappy POC guests who are turned away because the ride is shut down so often. They also know because their friends/co-workers are working at POC every day and dealing with this craziness and guests' unhappiness. Rteetz thank you for all of your hard work & incredible contributions on the Boards. You are one of the consistent vets on the Boards who works hard to help us stay up to date with the good, bad and (sadly) sometimes the ugly at WDW. Hang in there & appreciation & only good wishes out to you! :-)

Thanks for your update. The boats are an ongoing issue that of course they are aware of but aren't dealing with in the quickest fashion.

Also thank you for your kind words.

The corporate memo that we would like to see:

Burbank to Lake Buena Vista: We are sending over the box office receipts from one theater's single showing of the new Star Wars movie. Please buy new boats.

"When you wish upon a star...."
No kidding. I just attended a 9:00 AM Monday morning showing in an IMAX 3D theater that was 90% FULL...

We rode a few times the weekend of the 13th. Mostly in the second row. No one ever got soaked but definitely splashed. Never noticed standing water either. On one ride the boat did list fairly dramatically to the right. My daughter and I scooted over to the left. Thankfully no water came in.

Rode on 12/18 in the evening and we didn't see any soaking boats and nobody on our boat got too wet.

If only........

My husband did not believe me that this was happening until last week we were riding the monorail with a lady whose clothes were very wet. She said she got soaked on POTC. She was surprised that she had gotten so wet. She said she had been splashed by cannon fire before but nothing like this.

We rode twice Dec. 20. Both times we were in the fifth row. There was standing water in both boats in each row. One front row person got soaked each time. The second boat we rode tilted so heavily to the left, I thought for sure water was going to splash over the sides. Thankfully, it didn't. Weight seemed evenly distributed. I would imagine that there would be splashes over the sides of the boat if weight wasn't evenly distributed though.

Rode on the weekend of the 11th - Got onto the boat and there was about 1/4" of standing water on the bottom of the boat - We got about halfway loaded when the CM pulled everybody out of the boat and sent it on ahead, empty, and we took the next one that was dry. I THINK they took the boat out of service though I saw an empty one in front of us when we arrived back for unloading.

Rode Pirates on the 13th, midday. No standing water in the front row, but it was wet. Wife, 2year old and I front row. All got wet enough to be damp for the remainder of the voyage. I for one like this change, my wife does not. I feel it adds to the story of making a splash into the harbour scene.

When we rode a couple weeks ago, I told DH to look at the boat before we got in because I wasn't getting in one with standing water. The CM heard me and goes 'if you don't want to get wet, I'll put you in the back row and we will wait for a dry boat for you.'

Luckily the first boat was dry. The front row did get wet but we were fine in the back.

Well, even if they haven't actively changed the boats, it does sound like the CMs are dealing with it much better than they were when the thread started, checking boats, making accommodation for guests who don't want to get wet, quickly taking boats out when they have too much standing water. So until they can physically change things it does sound as though they are responding positively.

This sounds like a nice change. I was really wary about asking to wait for a dry boat on our upcoming trip because I simply cannot step into a boat that has standing water in it for various (medical) reasons. We would have skipped the ride if accommodating such a request would have been an issue but it's my DS7's favorite ride and I know we would have had long talks and a load of disappointment about f we didn't ride.

I didn't know about this and they put my family of five - with a 6 month old- in the front row. We all got soaked as did her diaper bag with all our supplies and spare baby clothes. Really not impressed. No reason to put a baby in the front row to get splashed in the face like that.

Oh wow, I would have been livid. They definitely shouldn't be putting babies and toddlers in the front row.

We just got back, and last week rode Pirates. Not only were the boats all soaked at the bottom, the first boat they tried to put us in had vomit on the floor. The CM tried to say that it was napkins people had used to wipe off the seats. Umm, clearly not napkins. The other people who had already gotten in the boat were saying they could smell it. We refused to put our feet in vomit and insisted that we get on the next boat. I was shocked that they went ahead and sent a boat through with bodily fluids. :crazy2:
