FLL airport - Shooting today at 1 pm - 9 wounded

I believe in random kindness and tolerance. I hope I would be judged cake-worthy.
How in the heck did this thread devolve into the topic of easily irritated, picky bakers?

I know right? I clicked on the last page to see if there were updates and people were in a peeing contest over cakes! Only on the Diz.

What does any of the last five pages have to do with the airport shooting? If you want to argue about a stupid hypothetical baker, start a new thread.

To be fair you had initially "liked" quite a few of those "stupid hypothetical baker" posts.

Good grief, here w go again. :stir:

I guess this thread has run its course.

Nice way to shut down dialogue.

I guess we won't be able to follow the case here.

So try to "take the thread back".

Here's what has me REALLY curious... what caused the 2nd evacuation (of all terminals)? As I understand it (someone correct me if I'm wrong), the terminals are not interconnected (ie: if you want to go between terminals, you need to exit the building and enter another one). So I understand the first shooting was in terminal 2. I remember watching on the news about 90 minutes after the first shooting, folks from terminal 2 who had evacuated onto the ramp were let back inside (I SAW them on the news reentering the terminal). About 30 minutes later, the evacuations started again. THAT'S what I'd like to know what happened. I saw on the news people being told to crouch behind cars (I couldn't tell if they were being shielded from the terminal or from the parking garage).

I wish I could say I am surprised by some of the responses in this thread, but then I'm not since these things have been spewed before by the same people.. it's sad how hateful some people are.

For all the people complaining about the cake posts, the longer you complain about them, the more that topic stays alive. Best course of action is really to just discuss what you want to discuss and get the thread back on topic. Really very simple.

Tolerance means keeping one's own personal views to themselves and not expecting others to adhere to your views (on any subject). Religious views should ALWAYS be kept in the privacy of one's own home/church/family. Religion has no place in the state/politics/public workplace, etc (unless the workplace is their church).

Geez, your whole post is not very tolerant. What you've said, in effect, is keep your opinions to yourself yet here you are expressing yours. Sorry but as far as I know, I still have my 1st Amendment rights. That said, I don't think many of my opinions would affect those who melt on warm days.

That's interesting as I haven't seen anything hateful in this thread, but your post sure pushes the boundary.

Is that when rumors of shots fired a second time happened?

I read that the police found a suspicious package so maybe that was the reason.

No, I didn't say the baker can refuse to sell the cake. I believe the baker should be afforded the right to refuse to decorate in a specific way. That's not twisting anything.

You have been trying to twist the law to suit a very particular bigotry. The baker has no legal standing to refuse to decorate a cake with 2 men or 2 women, just as he/she has no legal standing to refuse service to a homosexual couple. In deference to those on this thread who do not like the direction it has veered, I will no longer respond to you any further on this issue, no matter what you post in response. Be assured that my lack of response will be, in no way, a tacit agreement of bigotry.

ETA: I won't respond to any other poster's defense of bigotry, not just the person I quoted.

Once again, if the bakery hasn't decorated a cake in the specific manner that a customer requests, and the specific design is not specified in their services, the bakery is under no legal obligation to fulfill that request. You don't walk into a business and demand that a business do something that it has never done before just because you want it. That's honestly one of the silliest things I've ever heard.

Just made sure you got your say in before doing that though, didn't you.

Reminds me of when my brother and I use to play video games as kids. I dominated him for most of the play but when he won, he would stand up, celebrate his greatness, and tell me he was done playing.

The terminals are not connect at FLL but are very close building. You can walk between the terminals in less the 5 minutes if you really wanted to.

No one is quite sure (or at least hasn't said why) the 2nd incident happened but it could have easily been friendly fire as someone said above I.e armed guards didn't realize some of the swat/FBI were actual swat/FBI since their radios don't overlap and well some of them were plain clothed officer who put their vests in as quickly as possible or it is possible it was hearing a noise that sounded like a shot but was actually something else since even people who are very familiar with shots can believe they heard it if they are in a situation where the first thing in a fight or flight would be is this danger which would be this case.
