It is 10 degrees outside, with the wind chill factor well below zero. We have at least three feet of snow on the ground. We are getting ready to go to lunch and shopping. I told my DD14 to dress warmly. She came downstairs in jeans, a jersey, and a sweatshirt. Good so far. Then I look at her feet. She is wearing flipflops!
I decided to choose my battles a long time ago. I'm not going to say anything to her, but I will make sure I put a pair of socks and shoes in the trunk of my car. If she complains of freezing toes, I will make her suffer for a bit!
I see this all the time at the high school. How about where you live?

I took a deep breath and said lets go. As we were walking into the mall she has the nerve to say-- Mom, why did you let me wear flip flops, I'm cold
I told her she was informed that it was cool outside and she' old enough to live with her decisions.
