A friend of mine had it last night...it looked so convenient to use..we have a video camera that we never use - big bulky/etc.

Thinking this would be great - even if it was not the best video we would still use it so better than having one we never use....

Also, looking fo rthe best place to buy price wise

thanx

We don't have the Flip but we have the Kodak zi8 and love it. We decided on the Kodak because you can expand the memory. We have bought all of our cameras/videos from either Beach Camera or Amazon.

If you have a Staples, check there. I picked one up for $57 plus tax the day before yesterday. They clearanced out an older model to make room for new ones. The sku number is 791405, click here to check stock (you may have to click more than once) and put in your zip. http://www.staples.com/office/suppl...ty=Dallas&state=TX&zipCode=33712&distance=100

I have used it once and so far I like it. It may not be the best video but I do like the size and the ease of using it. But the video quality isn't horrible either. I ended up having to get the display but it was in great shape and the box still had everything in it that was supposed to come in it. Hopefully you can find one near you! Good luck!

I never had any interest in video prior to these tine HD cameras they make now.

We bought a Vado. For the price and convience, it is well worth it. My only complaint, well 2 actually is the sound, not that great and of course it's low lighting capabilities. But for such a small camera, I would not expect much more.

THANK U so much..just called, they have it in stock BUT they said its 79.00 wonder why the price difference???

still a great deal

thanx - heading out soon! wonder why they don't show the price on-line??

When they scan it it should come up as $57. I hope they will have it when you get there and not hold onto it for themselves! Report back and let us know if you get it! :thumbsup2

And as far as the online price goes, a lot of time stores will clearance an item in store WAY before online. They don't have as much space in a store so they have to make room. At least that is my theory! LOL

We got a Flip for Christmas, I like the size and the convenience of the built in USB, but I don't like that it doesn't take a memory card.

Just back...

When i got to staples i did not see it anywhere...only the newer ones - i asked the guy and said i called etc. he said yes i have them in the back - i said why r they not out - said they are on clearance...no room to keep them out - Thats Crazy - how do u get rid of them...anyway

Yes, i got one and it rang up $57.00!!! Thanx so much!

YEAH!!! So glad you were able to get one! Yes, you would think they would put them out somewhere to get rid of them, its not like it would take long!

We have an older Flip camera, got it on Walmart Clearance for like $48. It is not HD for sure.

It is easy to use for sure, and kind of fun to play with. It is small, only have room for 30 minutes of video, (of course you can transfer it over to the computer and clear it out as often as you want). The quality is alright for watching on a computer, don't know how good it would look on like a big tv screen, I am guessing not too great.

Probably great for day trips.

But if you are on vacation and you fill it up, then no more shooting unless you have your laptop with you to empty it onto.

Nobody in town can burn a DVD or change the memory for you.

Yes, but that will be 2 hours of more video then i would have had because i NEVER bring my big camcorder with us....

Do you know if this particular Flip is High Definition? I would be very interested in getting a second High Def Flip for the $57 price. Thanks.

No, this is the 2nd generation model. I think its the third generation thats the HD version.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE my Flip. I had one of the original ones and loved that, then upgraded to the FlipMino HD about 3 weeks ago. It was on sale at Best Buy. I love this one even more. The picture quality is much more awesome. Just a perfect piece of technology IMO :)

I've seen Flips (I don't know what gen or price) on Woot quite a few times, too.

My ds in 8th grade uses our Flip all the time for school projects. Today he and his friends are taping a restaurant scene for spanish. The other day he had to tape a scene from the book "Then There Were None" for language arts class. He is able to do some really cool things when he edits too. It is so easy to use. We do have the HD model but I'm not sure how much different it is. It holds 2 hours of taping.

I would go with the Kodak Zi8 myself. It is cheaper, has expandable memory and records at a higher quality. You can get it for $98 right now on Amazon.

Just got the Flip Slide. Its HD and has 4 hours of record time and a slide out screen for playback.
We really like it. We really weren't interested in a camera that does much more.. just catching a few moments here and there. We are quite pleased with the picture quality for our purposes.:) Won it in Ebay auction (new and unopened) for 120.00. So the price was right for us too.

My parents (Mom & Step Dad) got DH one for Christmas, we love it! My dad bought us a normal camcorder for Christmas 2 years ago, right after DD was born. We always forget we have it and forget to use it. Figuring out zoom and all the features was something we never sat down and figured out how to do. I feel terrible because I know it was expensive, but it's so bulky to carry around and isn't convenient to have with us all the time.

The Flip is great. I love that it's so small and super easy to use. DH was impressed with the quality of the videos when he put them on the computer. This is the first time we'll be bringing a video camera to Disney.

ETA: Sorry, just looked at ours, we have the Kodak Ei8. At any rate, we really like it!
