Flip side of rude CM's - Rude guests!

I used to work all over MGM Studios. Once, I picked up a "crowd control" shift working at Fantasmic and had the WORST guest experience. When the show concludes, we kindly ask people to use the aisles and not climb over the bleachers, for their own safety. I was also, handing out brooms to my fellow CMs. One guy said "F this! I don't need to wait for no one!" and pulled his family (forcefully) up each and every bleacher. With a broom still in my hand I said, "sir, please use the aisles, it's for your own safety." He "kindly" returned that with, "You're just some stupid kid with spikey hair. Why should I listen to you?" He got in my face and I could smell the alcohol on his breath. I would have loved to answer, "Because I'm the one holding the broom." But instead, I said "Sir, please. There's no need to cause a scene." With that, he grabbed the broom I was holding and flung me aside and down the bleachers. I fell down two of them before regaining my balance. At that point, I did something I am not proud of, so I'll stop the story here...but seriously...how dare he?! I was almost killed!

When DH and I were at Magic Kindgom in June we had Fastpasses for Peter Pan. As we waited in the fastpass line for our turn a gentleman in the regular line spotted us, pointed at us and loudly proclaimed to everyone within earshot that it was "absolutely ridiculous that they allow adults without children to use fastpass." He then proceeded to go on and on about adults like us taking up time from his kids vacation because we were using all the fast passes, getting all the adr's and getting good parade, fireworks spots. I'm sorry, but when did WDW become families only? It was bizarre...I have one word for this man..."PLANNING"!

DH and I will be in WDW in September. We probably will not need Fastpass but if we do were are going to use them. If someone said that to us I am sure DH would probably say "Just because you are too stupid to get a Fastpass doesn't mean we are". We would probably then wave at them as we went past. Normally we are very easy going but when someone says something that stupid. Well.......

Boy, it's a good thing I wasn't there! I'm usually a "go with the flow"/ avoid arguments type of person at WDW. However, this definitely would have fueled my Irish temper and I'm afraid the man who said that would have had his own "rude guest" encounter if I'd been there.

A good "go with the flow" response would be, "Yes, we know it is all just about you." A little passive-aggressive, but not overly so, and well-warranted.

I have had a few encounters with some real winners! Here is one from our trip in July. My Mom and I were taking my 2 girls to 1900 Park Fare breakfast. We got our food and sat down. Across from us a Mom and 2 small kids (looked about 4 and 3) were seated. The youngest was in a high chair. She would leave the kids at the table and go get their plates filled.

On her trip back with a plate she asked a waiter to stand at another table and watch their plates so she could get more. I guess she didn't want them to start eating without her. Anyway she was having a very hard time of it. I went over and asked if I could help her if she wanted to get her plate. She might not have understood because they were spanish speakers but she declined.

After they get settled and are eating, the Dad decides to stroll in. :furious: He never sat down, but hovered over the table, eating off the plates and drinking the kids drinks!!! I finally figured out that he was getting his breakfast with out paying  I'm slow sometimes! When the characters would begin to reach our section he would go over and point to their table trying to get them to their table. The characters had other tables to see before theirs in the rotation. This dude was a
piece of work!!

"What the world needs now, is love, sweet love..."

people, work ONE DAY in retail and you will experience the worst humanity has to offer: privledged, well-fed caucasian people who believe that their personal self is the axis on which the earth spins...

On our trip last September, we were friendly towards the CM's. What did we get in return? Genuine smiles, whole rolls of stickers, free candy at shops, my son chosen to open MGM, a CM who "happened" to find last-minute ressies for us at CRT, two BAGS of pretzel breadsticks at LeCellier when we were leaving (thank you Marie!), balloons in our room for my DS birthday, towel animals everyday, the Dapper Dans singing "Chicago, Chicago" and "Happy Birthday" to us, etc etc etc...

My butt-munch brother in law who acts like the world is his doormat went to MK two months later. When he saw OUR video on the day he returned, he asked us "How much did you pay for all that extra stuff we didn't get?" and did not believe me when I said nothing.

Be nice, people...the CM's and other guests are humans, too...maybe if you do, Pixie Dust will prevail.

This proves that you do indeed get what you deserve. It's like we've been saying all along. Treat WDW with love and respect, and WDW will treat you with love and respect (that goes for all people, not just WDW).

SO, to any CM's reading this...THANKS for all you put up with, and being so cool when my family and I get to where you're working!

Oh my gosh!! That is just horrible. I can not believe someone would do that.

How about a guest being rude to us? We were enjoying a snack at the Fountain View Bakery this May, and we were alone besides this couple and one of their mothers. They were not a young couple. We had the table in the corner that gets the really good view of the founain show. As the show starts, the husband starts to take the woman's picture, positioning himself so that his direar wasblocking the entire view. Even worse, he was bobbing up and down to get good pictures. It was so rude, and he knew exactly what he was doing--he just wanted to take the picture. He acted like it was a photoshoot for some model, taking an excessive amount of photos. The man was not supposed to hear my father whisper "Does that clown know that butt is in the way?!?" incredulously, but he did, which was kind of funny. Even though he knew that his butt was blocking the show, he didn't think that we had the nerve to do anything. He finished up and went back to his table. We all laugh at him know.

ITA! I would have taken legal action. There has to be some law against a drunk knocking you down bleachers!! I would have socked him! :furious: :furious: :furious: :furious:

Here a few from our trip in June:

The first one was at the fastpass entrance at EE. We had fastpasses for EE and when we arrived in the afternoon during our time slot there were ALOT Of people outside the door. Normally people wait for their fastpass time to begin so my family assumed that was what this group was doing. My mom goes up to the fastpass lane to show the CM our passes and this man in line starts yelling and cussing at my family because he thinks we are cutting in line. Well my mom tries to explain to this angry man that we did not realize that all these people were in line (they werent in front of the entrance but to the side) and he just gets in my moms face and starts yellling. It wasnt as if we were actually trying to cut in line- we were about to talk to the CM who was manning the entrance This man really blew a fit! (We found out that one of the trains had broken down and they were running a lot slower than normal)

When we were at 1900 Park Fare dinner we have numerous shots of people in our picture. I think it is really rude when people cant wait a second for you to take a picture and they get in your way!

Last year we were eating lunch at a CS near Mission space. A woman was being extremely rude and insulting to the cashier. It was so bad that everyone else around her stopped and noticed. While we were standing in line next to her, I asked, "Are you going on Mission Space"? She said yes!. I told her that the ride is all hype. When they tell you to look straight ahead at the screen, don't trust them. I said you get a much better experience by looking around the cockpit at all the controls, and whatever you do, DONT look at the LCD screen because it will make you dizzy. :rotfl2:

The cashier gave me a big smile for it.

We just got back last night from a fabulous 2 week trip.

One day at Space Mountain a woman with 3 boys (not too teribbly young either - maybe 12, 9 & 6) was arguing with the CM about why they couldn't be in one car. There are 6 seats to each rocket. 3 seats a connector and 3 more seats. She couldn't understand why all 4 of them couldn't sit in the 3 seat section. She didn't want to sit one of them behind the connector. The CM just had this bewildered look on his face. Finally they got in line, but she looked frightened to have her approx. 12 year old sit in the seat behind the 3 of them (because there was a small connector) between the two small cars that make up one rocket.

We still are laughing about that one. The poor CM!

There is no excuse for yelling at someone who is simply following the rules, but I don't find this funny. I find it sad. Our society today has frieghtened this woman so much that she is unable to let her son out of her close proximty without fear. In my books that is really sad

A friend who went last December told me that she was standing by a turnstile and the CM was wishing everyone who went in (or out, I can't remember), "Happy Holidays." My friend said she stood there for about five minutes (waiting for someone) and in that time SEVERAL rude guests snapped at the poor CM and said, "NO! It's Merry Christmas!" or something of that effect. Come on, the CM's just being nice. He doesn't know who's Christian, Jewish, Muslim, etc, so he's just saying Happy Holidays to everyone. Get over yourself! Rude, rude, rude. If that happened several times in five minutes, can you imagine how many times he heard it over the entire month? I would have snapped.

You can say Happy Holidays all you want, but my response will always be "MERRY CHRISTMAS"!!!!!! :woohoo:

Keep race out of it please. There are plenty of 'entitled' people of all colors, shapes and sizes. A cooment like that is just as bad as the people you are putting down.

Im sorry - and flame me if you wish - but i had an incident when even the Magic of Disney couldnt stop me getting riled.

1999 and the first trip where the droves of Brazilians decided to visit orlando at the same time - honestly Brazil was empty that week... every park i went to there were AT LEAST 6 groups (sports people? i dunno), but each group was easily over a hundred people with at least three flag carriers so they could ID each other... Now that alone is fine, i love to see big groups enjoying themselves.

It was only when they were at EVERY ride at the park ALL day cutting lines. Literally i remember being in the line for Alien encounter, right at that bit where you go through the turnstiles into the little room with the windows in it. Ok so im waiting for the turnstiles to open, and we have maybe 30 of these 'group' members in front of us, thats fine no problem. It was only when they turned around to scream to the oncoming next group of 100 that 'they could join the line here...' (or what translated toward this naughty idea). Now what shocked me besides the pure rudeness of the situation and that their parents didnt take it upon themselves to teach manners to their little angels, was that even the chaperones taking these kids around didnt think anything wrong of it.

Ok i thought, HA the CM's will SLAP u down... no. :guilty:

So proceeded 100 people through an express gate (this was before fastpass etc. so no excuses) but yes anyway, through an emergency gate type thing, PAST ME AND MY FAMILY, and go onto the ride... maybe 100 is excessive but either way from being near enough next on the ride, we were not allowed to go in until the next one..

I couldnt believe the CM's would let this happen.. i was stunned, shocked, angry and upset to be made a fool of. So i said to the CM's. 'uhhh dood what the hell, that is clearly not right' i promise you i didnt use bad language as i was actually trying to get let in to the show by being funny about it. And no lies, they both looked at me and laughed. They LAUGHED! :confused3 i could have spat in their face for that. Unfortunately this was before i was old enough to understand that reporting these people would have resulted in action being taken.

But its just digusting.. u hear such nice things about CM's and that they get treated like rubbish, and then they let 100 people line jump and make a 15 year old feel like a moron for trying to ask why this party was more important than his mum dad and sister. Luckily my parents told me to let it go and that i was right for asking otherwise i would have taken it furthur by actually farting in the direction of the bad bad CM :woohoo:

So in this instance i must say i was let down by the CM's and Disney, as i saw this happen at other attractions, blatent line jumping makes me so so upset. Needless to say everytime we saw a group of these guys from then on it was in a very dim light.

Still the power of Disney lives on, just hope they are not there this christmas

CMs are not enforcers. At best, they're shepherds. As with any similar situation, they have to rely on the integrity of the guests to voluntarily comply with the rules. Back in 1999, the quinceanera tour groups didn't exhibit that integrity. CMs learned quickly not to try to do anything more than keep an eye on them, to ensure things don't get violent (because try to physically get them to comply only made them behave worse). Disney eventually cracked down the quinceanera tour groups, raising the requirement for chaperones-to-tour-member ratio.

And I have to be honest. If you used the word "dood" in a sentence while talking to me, I'd laugh at you as well. :)
