flip flops in the park

The only trouble I've ever had with flip flops is at the end of the day the straps can rub the tops of my feet. A little mole skin can make a world of difference. I do think flops are more comfortable than regular shoes which always give me monster heel blisters!

I love flip flops. Try Teva "mush" flip flops...they are very comfortable. I also like my birkenstocks becasue they offer alot of arch support. Merrell also has some flip flop looking styles. I havent tried them yet, but I am looking to buy a pair.

I wore my teva mush flip flops all over WDW last May and didnt have a problem. By the end of a long day at WDW your feet are going to hurt no matter what you wear! :flower:

LadyLuc361- Glad to hear your Mush Tevas work well! I just bought a pair and wore them and my feet did well over a long day and a power walk.

I agree...no matter what shoes you wear, all that walking and standing will do a number on your feet!!!!! Do the WDW spas have special foot massages for this? LOL!

:worship: All Hail the Might Flip Flop! :worship: Love them love them love them! If I were allowed to all I would ever wear are flip flops. Unfortunately it does get cold here in NJ so I can only wear them when it gets warm and I'm not at work. Sigh I wish I could never ever take them off!

BTW my reefs are my favorite!

I wear flip-flops pretty much all summer long, but I can't wear them anywhere where I'll be on my feet all day. I've tried it, and my foot is aching by the end of the day from lack of support.

I've worn flip flops to DTD and to tour the resorts, but won't wear them to any of the parks.

and while i prefer not to wear 'em in the parks, dh and kids all do... i buy them decent lands' end ones for wdw but they wear $.99 walmart ones too...

:cheer2: :cheer2: GO TEAM FLIPFLOP! :cheer2: :cheer2:

I"m another one who is able to wear the flip flops (I'm a teva fan) in the parks without any problems. Anytime the temp is above 45 degrees, I'm in flip flops instead of shoes, so my feet are used to them.

I sometimes wear high heeled sandals in the parks! I get more dirty looks from people and I can't figure out why; it's not like I'm wearin' a thong with them!

I usually have a sundress and sandals on, and the particular pair of heels I have I can walk in them for hours with no problem. It makes me over 6 feet tall, and I can see past most of the crowds to find my husband (6'4") yards away :love2:

My daughters have closed toed jelly sandals, that seems to work well in the park since they can get their feet wet and the jellys dry off quickly, and I'm a stickler for the kids not having their toes exposed when we're at the parks. One trashed piggy and the day's ruined...

I've never had a problem with Disney making your feet dirty. There are restaurant tables in the real world that aren't as clean as Disney's grounds...

My DD20 and DD12 wear them all the time, I bring them to the parks and change when it is raining nothing worse then wet shoes and socks!!! We have never had a problem but once my DD20 friend was at Great America and had on flip-flops and went on the flying swings and one flew off and she never found it :rotfl: My older DD wears them until it snows and then brings them out as soon as it hits 40 in the spring. She has tons of different ones some have lining on them. I guess those are the winter ones!

Whatever you wear just make sure they are not brand new!

I was at WDW last week, and I wore my Teva flip flops every day. I loved them!!! We spent almost the entire day, every day, at the parks, and my feet never hurt. I have never had that experience with any other shoe. Usually, by the end of the day, my feet are aching and all I want to do is sit down. This trip, I would be physically exhausted by the end of the day, but my feet were never sore. The only problems I had were that the black of the shoes would rub off on the soles of my feet, my heels got a little rough, and my husband kept stepping on the back of my shoe. The best part though, was being able to walk through the little "splash zones" they have scattered around the parks for the kids to play in. I was able to wet my feet and shoes down, and it was very refreshing and a huge help in the heat.

As long as you're comfy, that's all that matters! I were flops all summer at home, but I couldn't wear them walking all day in the parks. I wear socks and tennies. I saw tons of people in flops there though, and they seemed perfectly comfy! :)

You are going to love the Mush Tevas, they are great. I think I need to buy a new pair :smooth:

If the WDW spas had special foot massages I would get one! That would be great for the last day! :teeth:

hi everyone..

I wanted to know how many people wear flip flops all day in the park..

I wear them everyday here at home but I don't know if my feet will hurt in the parks..

any help would be great

I saw tons of people (both men + women) wearing flip flops and they appeared to be quite comfortable (I didn't see anyone wincing lol). But, the majority of shoes I saw were running shoes. I myself wore my new CROCS and was extremely comfortable :goodvibes

I have to wear my tennis shoes or by the end of the week I will be paying for it! Although...I do take my flip flops with me in the backpack when we go to AK and ride Kali River Rapids. Nothing is worse than walking around with wet socks and tennis shoes! Also, the very first thing I do when we return back to the hotel at night is get my tennis shoes off and slip my flip flops on! :Pinkbounc

Here in Buffalo school kids wear them ALL YEAR. It has become a liability problem in the schools and students are now being sent homw w/o proper footwear.

How is kids wearing flip flops a liability problem for the schools??? If a kid ended up with frost bite or something, I can see where the parents might be liable or (depending on the kid's age) the kid's might be liable, but the school???? I couldn't imagine where they would be liable unless they required the students to wear flip flops.
Personally, there are many fads that I don't understand - the saggy, baggy pants, wearing pj's in public etc... but all I need to do is glance at an old high school photo of mine where I'm wearing yellow & black plaid, hip hugger, bell bottom pants and all the sudden flip flops as dress wear doesn't seem so bad after all :)

I had been debating between flip flops and tennis shoes too and now that I know flip flops are comfy enough to wear in the parks, I guess I will wear those when I go next month.

I wear thong sandals that are similar to flip-flops only dressier looking. I call them my 'Disney shoes' because they are so comfortable and I can wear them all day long and at the end of the day I'm the only one not complaining that my feet hurt. I HATE sneakers because I cannot stand to have my feet enclosed for an extended period of time or when I am doing a lot of walking. I like for my feet to 'breathe', so flip flops or open sandals are so much more comfortable to me :) People do occasionally step on the backs of them, though, but not too often and if I have to put up with that for my feet to be comfy, so be it.

I love flip flops. I live in them all summer (in fact I have on the Nike Cleso at the moment (very comfy!)). I always thought they have been popular as well (maybe that is just me?)? Anyways bring a shoefanatic I usually bring around 7 pairs to the WDW and 2-3 of them are always flip-flops.

Another flip flop wearer (is that even a word!!:confused3 )here. In my opinion, they are the best shoes ever. I wore my Dr. Martens Grizzlies to WDW a couple of weeks ago and no problems at all. They have a ton of support, so no aching feet or shins from shin splints. Now if I could just teach my DH to not step on me, life would be perfect! :p

I'm hoping the Mush Tevas that I ordered are going to be on my doorstep this afternoon...I need to break them in a bit before we go!! I also have Nile Crocs on the way. I usually wear sneakers in the parks but I want to wear flip flops or sandals this time because it seems like they would be so much more comfortable and convenient (re: Kali River Rapids, etc). I'll definitely be packing my sneakers though just in case I find sandals aren't as comfortable.
