I know this isn't directly Disney related, but I'm a DVC member and love this site. My question is I need to get to Branson, and I'm not sure the best route. I always fly Southwest and I'm totally comfortable on their planes. Any suggestions on what might work for me. I usually fly out of Providence but can fly out of Boston. Thanks for any help.

Hi--

Airtran flies into Branson; not sure if you can get a flight on it from where you are, but you could check. It's the cutest little airport you'll ever see. Nothing but positive experiences for us! :goodvibes

ETA--- it's airport code BKG.

Currently, only AirTran and Frontier fly to Branson (BKG); since neither serve Providence, you will need to fly out of Boston and connect - AirTran over Atlanta likely being the best option. But also consider Springfield, Missouri (SGF), which is approximately 50 miles north of Branson.

XNA (Northwest Arkansas Regional Airport) is about 90 minutes southwest too... It's not the closest option but you can add a visit to the new Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art which is located in nearby Bentonville.

It was built by Sam Walton's daughter and is a world class art museum tucked into a beautiful little valley in the Ozarks. I would consider it a must-see if you're going to be in the region. As an added benefit, the drive from NW Arkansas to Branson goes through Eureka Springs, which is a unique European village... which is somewhat unexpected in Arkansas! XNA is served by all of the major airlines.

We live in Philly, our daughter lives in Springfield, Mo. Have flown into both Branson (BKG) and Springfield (SGF). SGF & BKG both have great little auports. One plus for BKG is that they have a Famous Dave's BBQ inside, yum. Have flown into both airports on various airlines. USAIRWAYS from PHL connected to United Express (Air Wisconsin) at Ohare (ORD) into SGF. United also connected to United Express in Ohare. Airtran from PHL has always connected thru Atlanta (ATL). I have found that it is considerably more expensive to fly into SGF. BKG via Airtran used to be considerably cheaper, lately the fares in & out of BKG have sky-rocketed. Normally Aitran has only 2 flight a day in & 2 out of BKG. Southwest will very shortly (June/July) take over the service into BKG. That connected I believ will also be thru ATL. Hope all this helps a little.
