Flights in August

Please could anyone let me know the best deals they got on flights for this August and when they booked them. Am going on Virgin in December for 3 weeks and got a great deal on PE. This year will be the last time I can take my son out of school so will have to be in August next year but the flights currently avaiable for this year on Virgin just seem like crazy prices. I am thinking that it may actually be cheaper to book a package.

Hi we are gonig on weds and booked in march.We are flying PE one way and economy the other and paid around £1469 for 2 adults and 1, 4 year old.I know some people paid a lot more than that.We did use miles +money and airmiles to get this price.I think it was over £2000 otherwise.If you book as soon as the prices come out you may get a good deal.As you will have airmiles from your trip in december I would definatley use miles +money it will save you a bit especially going in school hols.At quieter times it probably doesn't save you much.Wayneg OBI alice and Claire L are the best people to ask about flights and I am sure they will read this thread.

Best way will be the Miles and Money route.
I believe we booked at about best price for this August it was £533+ 2,000 miles each. Full price I don't think has dipped below £800, although some lucky people got a price error on Expedia by adding a hotel it knocked money off flights instead of adding it on. So Flights and hotels for 3 weeks were starting at around £450.
Virgin packages are way OTT for us, 25 nights for 3 of us would have cost over £4,000. Done it myself for £2,224
