Flights changing....

I fly frequently on Southwest and have experienced time changes but usually only a few minutes difference, however last year I had a flight on a Friday from providence that was suppose to go to Raleigh thru BWI with no plane change. We got to BWI and were told to get off plane and go to gate 4 for instructions. We didn't have boarding passes as this was suppose to be no plane change. When we got to gate 4 no one was there and we were told there were no flights till next day. I was going for a wedding the next morning. I had to rent a car and drive the 10 hrs to Raleigh airport and pick up my bags in the morning. Terrible treatment for the 24 people who were suppose to be on original flight. I got the one way flight back but not the cost of the rental car booked one way last minute. So southwest was pretty shabby to me and I'm a frequent flyer with them. We have had this happen again and my husband would not get off plane unless one of the stewardess's accompanied us to next gate .

What happened? Did you ever get an explanation?

By the way, the term stewardess went out many, many years ago. They are Flight Attendants.

They don't. That's why you can only book a few months at a time. They extend their schedule and the flights available from one schedule to the next may change, but once they set those flights they are set. If you book the flight, that's when it is. There could be an occasional extreme situation (terminal out of use unexpectedly at an airport or something), but it's not like other airlines that book farther out than adjust flights based on how many people are booked and juggle the planes as the dates get nearer. The way they set the schedule, the planes basically have to fly to get to the next stop, so they are going whether they have passengers or not.

I'm not saying that your flight wont' be delayed for hours or days. But it's not shifting from 9am to 9:15am then back to 8am or being moved to another day all together. You don't have to check your flights and hope the airline doesn't move you.

Southwest certainly has changed their flight schedule. I've flown with Southwest numerous of times over the last few years, and I've received emails alerting me that there has been a change in my flight schedule prior to the day of my trip. Sometimes there's a 30-minute change; sometimes there's an hour change. Thankfully none of those changes interfered with my connecting flights, but changes do and will occur with Southwest. I'm not talking about delays (which I've also experienced plenty of times) either.
