This has been an exasperating day! First I learn that my flight on Song has been completely discontinued. Had to rebook with Continental, but in order to use our free miles I had to add three days to our trip. That was actually good news.. But, just now I called Nat'l to add the days to the car rental. The Emerald Aisle rate I had was $110.99 wk, $18.50 for extra days. That rate is no longer available and my total went from $144.90 for 9 days to $459 for 12!!! I can't believe this!!!
Oh....and the agent also questioned my Priceless code and said it should never have been used with the Entertainment coupon. But I have used that combination many times...not just at MCO, but for rentals at EWR too! Back to the drawing board for me.

I suggest trying to make a new reservation online using those coupons and see what happens. You can always cancel the expensive one.

what are your dates... that is an awefully large jump. My rates for June 14-23 are at their lowest right now...... with Priceless and Ent. Coupon.

I just looked at your signature and saw the dates were Oct 15-23.... I am assuming Oct 15-27 for total of 12 days.. that did bring me up to 459 too!! Hang in there, you have time, but keep checking back.

What about returning the car to the CCC or Dolphin at the end of the week and taking Magical Express back to the airport?

One thing you could have done was keep the original car rental reservation, make a second non-overlapping reservation covering just the additional days with the same or different car rental agency, then gone back to the airport to return one car and get the other.

If the second rental is with the same agency or if both agencies' lots are inside the airport, then only one person has to go get the second car.

That's what we do.

Unfortunately, when I called Natl, I had no idea that I would lose my original rate by just adding days. That's why I called to make the changes instead of doing it online. When the rep told me the new rate, I told him to forget it....I'd stick with the old rate. That's when he told me he had already put in the new dates and the original rate was gone! Boy, was I hopping mad and let him know it. He kept insisting there was no way to go back.

Keep checking!

We leave tomorrow :cool1: and the planner in me *made* me check our rates again and they are down. Not a lot but every little $$ adds up! :)

I am stacking multiple codes/coupons.

Take a look at getting Magical Express from the airport to your WDW resort. Then a few days into your trip, pick up your reserved National or Alamo car at the Magic Kingdom Car Care Center. You'll be able to get a free shuttle from your WDW resort to the MKCCC. Just arrange for the shuttle the day before with yoru WDW resort's front desk.
(A tip - If you pick up your car off-site, you'll avoid that nasty airport/"Concession Recovery Fee".)

I am researching my various transpo options for our August 9-17 WDW trip. So far my cheapest option(Haven't made up my mind about ME yet and won't take Mears, so they aren't figured into the equation.) is:
Taking a towncar from MCO to WDW. Renting a car from the MKCCC for only 1 week, dropping off car at MCO upon departure.
Doing it this way, rather than renting a car for the whole time we are there will actually save me $5-$10 :) .

agnes!
