Flat, Disk-like Pearls in Nassau

Back in September at the Nassau POC, I saw these very interesting pearls at several of the jewelry stores. They were like a button - round disks, kind of flat. The larger pearls were set as pendants, the smaller, in 18K gold with diamond (or other precious stones) chips.

Can anyone recall seeing these and the manufacturer/designer's name for this type of pearl?
