Flashback from the eighties

Seasons In The Sun Lyrics

Goodbye to you, my trusted friend.
We've known each other since we're nine or ten.
Together we climbed hills or trees.
Learned of love and ABC's,
skinned our hearts and skinned our knees.
Goodbye my friend, it's hard to die,
when all the birds are singing in the sky,
Now that the spring is in the air.
Pretty girls are everywhere.
When you see them I'll be there.
We had joy, we had fun, we had seasons in the sun.
But the hills that we climbed
were just seasons out of time.
Goodbye, Papa, please pray for me,
I was the black sheep of the family.
You tried to teach me right from wrong.
Too much wine and too much song,
wonder how I get along.
Goodbye, Papa, it's hard to die
when all the birds are singing in the sky,
Now that the spring is in the air.
Little children everywhere.
When you see them I'll be there.
We had joy, we had fun, we had seasons in the sun.
But the wine and the song,
like the seasons, all have gone.
Goodbye, Michelle, my little one.
You gave me love and helped me find the sun.
And every time that I was down
you would always come around
and get my feet back on the ground.
Goodbye, Michelle, it's hard to die
when all the bird are singing in the sky,
Now that the spring is in the air.
With the flowers ev'rywhere.
I whish that we could both be there.
We had joy, we had fun, we had seasons in the sun.
But the stars we could reach
were just starfishs on the beach

Billy Joel played here in Columbus recently. I wanted to go so bad, but I have to save all my $$. He has amazing songs. Some of my favs are "An Innocent Man" "A Matter of Trust" "We Didn't Start the Fire" "I go to Extremes" "Big Shot."
The Police are going to be here soon as well. "I Can't Stand Losing" "Don't Stand so close to me" "Synchronicity II" (sigh)

Oooh, remember "Honesty?"

:goodvibes Thanks. I still have that 45. If only I still had a record player.

I was a huge Men At Work fan. I have some of Colin Hay's recent albums, but MAW was awesome.!!! "Who Can It Be Now" "It's a Mistake" "Overkill" "Be Good, Johnny!"

BTW, they play Be Good, Johnny on SuperNanny. :rotfl:

Here you go "Honesty"

If you search for tenderness
it isn't hard to find.
You can have the love you need to live.
But if you look for truthfulness
You might just as well be blind.
It always seems to be so hard to give.

Honesty is such a lonely word.
Everyone is so untrue.
Honesty is hardly ever heard.
And mostly what I need from you.

I can always find someone
to say they sympathize.
If I wear my heart out on my sleeve.
But I don't want some pretty face
to tell me pretty lies.
All I want is someone to believe.

Honesty is such a lonely word.
Everyone is so untrue.
Honesty is hardly ever heard.
And mostly what I need from you.

I can find a lover.
I can find a friend.
I can have security until the bitter end.
Anyone can comfort me
with promises again.
I know, I know.

When I'm deep inside of me
don't be too concerned.
I won't as for nothin' while I'm gone.
But when I want sincerity
tell me where else can I turn.
Because you're the one I depend upon.

Honesty is such a lonely word.
Everyone is so untrue.
Honesty is hardly ever heard.
And mostly what I need from you
.

What about some good Pat Benatar? "Hit Me With Your Best Shot" and "Silent Partners"? I have a bunch of her songs on my ipod.

Tile :Pat Benatar - SILENT PARTNER
This is lyrics from www.lyrics007.com
Background voices calling from a distance
See no evil, hear no evil)
Static on the line of least resistance
Dont say nothing at all
Dont say nothing at all
Dont say nothing at all
Im hanging on a wire, waitin on the word
Im never seen, youre never heard
The object of desire is seldom ever clear
I reach for you but all I hear
Are the background voices calling from a distance
Silent partners, listen to the hush

A lover without words is easily deceived
And rumors easily believed
The matter of obsession is seldom ever clear
I turn around, you disappear
In background voices calling from a distance
Silent partners, listen to the hush
Silent partners
You know they dont say nothing at all

What about the things we never mention?
What about the things we never say?
Will we wind up targets of affection?
In silence, turning silent
The silent turn away

A paramour or less, is never really sure
Exactly what to listen for
In secret service to the things they never say
The silent partners fade away

To background voices, calling from a distance
Silent partners, listen to the hush
Silent partners
You know they dont say nothing at all

My favorite 80's group is the Cars, ya gotta love

"You Might Think", "Since You're Gone", "Bye Bye Love", "Let's Go", let the "Good Times Roll" "Hello Again", and "Shake It Up"....What great times!
-

How about REO Speedwagon? They had some great tunes!! "Can't fight this feeling", "Take it on the run", "Time for me to fly".

The last 3 songs to play were "Der Kommissar" (sp?) by AFter the Fire, "Private Eyes" by Hall and Oates, and "Don't Come Around Here" Tom Petty.

Love Friday Night 80s!!!

Speaking of Tom Petty, he had some awesome songs, too! "Refugee" "The Waiting" "Breakdown" "You Got Lucky" "I won't back down" "Mary Jane's Last Dance."

Awesome!!!

Sadly, here's one you don't hear on the radio...

From my favorite performer, Bruce Springsteen, "Jungleland"

The last verse:

Outside the streets on fire in a real death waltz
Between flesh and whats fantasy
and the poets down here
Dont write nothing at all, they just stand back and let it all be
And in the quick of the night they reach for their moment
And try to make an honest stand
but they wind up wounded, not even dead
Tonight in jungleland

Now it's Simple Minds "Don't You Forget about me."

The Breakfast Club... what a classic movie!!!

All those old brat pack movies had such great songs!

Thompson Twins - If You Were Here
if you were here
i could deceive you
and if you were here
you would believe
but would you suspect
my emotion wandering, yeah
do not want a part of this anymore
The rain water drips
through a crack in the ceiling
and i'll have to spend
my time on repair
But just like the rain
i'll be always falling, yeah
only to rise and fall again
(REPEAT CHORUS)

What about some good Pat Benatar? "Hit Me With Your Best Shot" and "Silent Partners"? I have a bunch of her songs on my ipod.

Pat Benatar Oh yeah!

You're a Heartbreaker
Dream Maker, Love Taker
Don't you mess around with me!

Oh, I'm a long time Bruce fan...I remember bringing my albums to college in central PA and nobody knew who the heck he was.

Hey-anyone remember Jim Croce? I loved this song: Photographs and Memories-

Photographs and memories
Christmas cards you sent to me
All that I have are these

To remember you

Memories that come at night
Take me to another time
Back to a happier day
When I called you mine

CHORUS:

But we sure had a good time
When we started way back when
Morning walks and bedroom talks
Oh how I loved you then

Summer skies and lullabies
Nights we couldn't say good-bye
And of all of the things the we knew
Not a dream survived

Photographs and memories
All the love you gave to me
Somehow it just can't be true
That's all I've left of you

Not from the 80s but for some reason its been playing in my head:

Bob Seeger's

NO MORE

Are you sorry when the lights begin to fade
Are you sorry for all the promises you made
For the burden of the ones who had to fall
When you didn't read the writing on the wall

It was 30 years ago when I was young
And the jungle not the desert heard the guns
Someone said they had a secret plan
And the rest of us were told to understand

Well I don't want this
No I don't want this
I have had enough - no more

Tomorrow is the price for yesterday
A million waves won't wash the truth away
Someday you'll be ordered to explain
No one gets to walk between the rain

And I don't want this
No I don't want this
I have had enough - no more

No I don't want this
No I don't want this
I have had enough - no more
