Flamingo Crossing Construction begins Oct 16

Oh dear, there goes our tranquil personal back door to WDW. Love our drive from here on 429. No billboards, no traffic. It almost feels like you have already escaped the real world when you get on 429.

1) Actually, it has already started.
2) Went by there yesterday, and the dozers were pushing some dirt.

A coworker from another office was telling me he was down there a couple of weeks ago and stayed offsite by Animal Kingdom. He was telling me that they were building another way into Animal Kingdom. I didn't really think much about it since he's not a WDW regular, he didn't even go into the parks (he was spending time with a "girlfriend"). But I wonder if this is what he was talking about.

This won't be the actual flamingo crossings plan this is just some hotels that will be geared at the wide world of sports crowd. Nothing else right now is planned besides those hotels.

Makes sense. It would be good to connect the Osceola dead-end with the Orange Lake resort side, if I'm remembering the geography correctly.

This area is also a notorious speed-trap so watch your speed and especially "come to a complete and full stop" at the flashing stop lights out there. Ask me how I know. :confused3

Osceola Parkway intentionally dead-ends at Animal Kingdom Lodge so it does not become a superhighway around the built up part of Irlo Bronson (192).

Some of the roads in the Flamingo Crossing / Western Way area have been around for a long time as the service roads for Animal Kingdom. Before 429 there was no connection with Hartzog Rd. which is on the far side of 429.

This is our way to Disney from our condo. I will second the fact that it is 100% a speed trap. Hartzog Rd pulled over my father in Aug, and there have been police on the rd 50% of trips this week. I really love this way to drive in, I hope it does not get all built up and congested.

So this is land that Disney currently owns, but will sell off to third parties? Will it still be inside the RCID after the sale?

Is the Four Seasons still in RCID?

I don't believe they have any plans to sell the land. It will be Disney owned land with third party hotels on it.

I'm not sure how credible the article above is, but it mentioned Disney selling the land off to developers.

Yes the whole original point of flamingo crossing was to have it developed into retail, hotels, etc making sort of like the DTD area.

Just saw this. Wish it was true, but probably not. It would make sense to open a 5th gate, or at least announce it for the 50th anniversary though.
There is a whole other thread on this. It doesn't make any sense at this time for them to open a 5th park. DHS, AK, and Epcot all need work. AK is getting that, DHS is rumored to get that and Epcot is getting frozen... Also disney is bailing out DLP with a couple billion dollars.

This park is for 6-7 years down the road, that's a long time away.If Disney doesn't have a park opening or opened by 2021 they're going to be playing second fiddle to Universal as Universal at the rate they're going might have 4 parks by then along with that other project by Grand Southern Studios. You can't go 20+ years without building a new park. All these things they plan on doing to DHS,AK and Epcot are must dos but they're going to have to expand more besides that.

I don't know. At some point, aren't you just maxed-out from a logistical point of view? Where do you stop? 5 parks, 6, 10?

They may just have to commit to keeping the attractions they have fresh.
