I know it says that it's held "At Dusk" and that "Dusk" changes from day to day. Is there any way to estimate the time it will be in late August? I'd love to see this with my daughter.

It is always listed on the schedule of events that they give out at the gates. In April it was at 4:30, so probably around 6:30 now?

We were there just last week on July 28th and the ceremony started about 5:10 and lasted until 5:30. It's very touching.:goodvibes

They ask members of the armed forces to come forward as their branches music is played. There's a band and the Dapper Dans perform as well.

Here's a picture I took of them folding the flag that I submitted for a scavenger hunt.

Funny thing is usually my DD10 wants to make sure we aren't in the area when the flag retreat ceremony starts. This time she asked if we could watch it. ;)

5:10 definitely wasn't dusk last week. I think you can plan it to be about the same time later this month, possibly a little earlier.

FYI since CELEBRATE! starts in Town Square at 6:30 you can figure it will start way before people start sitting for it. Also the earlier parade ends in TS around 4:45 or so. Figure it will be about 5 and you should be fine.

very worth while seeing this....very patriotic and it really is done well.
Very "Disney":)

Loved the Flag Retreat Ceremony. We saw it for the first time, and enjoyed it so much that we watched it again the next day. Each ceremony was different. The Disneyland Band played patriotic songs the first day. The crowd was invited to sing "God Bless America." The band played the Armed Forces Salute and members of the different military branches were invited to stand as their anthem played. On the second day the Disneyland Band did not perform, and the servicemen/women were not recognized (meaning, asked to stand as their anthem played -- because their anthems weren't played). The Dapper Dans performed this time. They led the crowd in saying the Pledge of Allegiance before the flag was lowered, and then sang "God Bless America" after the flags were folded. I have to say it was pretty cool to say the Pledge of Allegiance at Disneyland. The Flag Retreat Ceremonies were highlights of our trip! :) Lots of pics on pages 7 and 8 of my TR linked below.

Great picture! I love it!!!!!!!!:thumbsup2

Thanks! I've been having some fun lately experimenting with photobuckets editing options. :goodvibes

BTW when we were there on the 28th both the band and the Dapper Dans performed. No pledge of allegiance but we did sing God Bless America.

This ceremony starts at 5;15. It is awesome! We brought our son who had just come home form 15 weeks of training in the Army and he stood at attention while they played the Army anthem. Its a real tear jerker. One of the best things Disney does. so classy.
Enjoy
