Fitbit just released a new model, the Charge, with a small screen. It has at least a clock built in, if that's important. Im waiting on the Charge HR, which will have a built in heart rate monitor. Im looking forward to being able to have ONE device that does everything.

I know others have weighed in already but I thought I'd throw my 2 cents in as well..

I have both the Fitbit Flex ($100) and a Polar FT6 (or something like that? also $100).

The Fitbit is, for me personally, a much better investment.

The Fitbit is extremely motivating. I have had it for 2 weeks but I really enjoy it. It lets you know how far you've walked, so you're always aiming for your 10,000 steps. It tells you calories burned. You can log sleep and food. It also syncs to My Fitness Pal and Weight Watchers apps (which I love).

The Polar heart rate monitor was more for during workouts only. I would only wear it at the gym. It comes with a pesky elastic strap you have to wear underneath your bra, which for me was SOOO annoying. It also gets really sweaty and gross, and I found that my heart rate strap and the watch were often not syncing and it would not track some of my calories burned. This was mainly to see HR use and calories burned. The Fitbit shows calories burned. The Fitbit Charge HR is up and coming and also tells you your heart rate, so that might be a nice mix of both.

I got the e-mail about the new Fitbits. My company issued the zips to us to encourage participating in our Health and Wellness program. Last Christmas anyone who reached a certain level in the program got the Force for free. Would be wonderful if they did the same with the Charge.
