Has anyone here tried this? I like mint so I'm intrigued.

We tried it yesterday. It's definitely interesting. Very sweet, but the mint flavor is actually nice. It's the "eggs" at the bottom. To say they are a flavor explosion is putting it mildly......

I wanted to like it so much but I just didn't. Too many competing flavors for me and DS6. If you want to try something besides the Butterbeer, we like the orange one (forget the exact name ... fizzy orange something?). They put cinnamon sugar on the rim which adds a nice flavor.

We loved it. It was our favourite of the drinks at Leaky Cauldron.

Not a fan. My DD and her BF didn't care for it either.

That flavor explosion you get from the fish is interesting. What kind of flavor is it?

Blueberry. The rest of the drink is like a sweet cinnamon taste (not really mint that I can recall). It was like drinking a Christmas tree. I wasn't a fan. I'll stick to Butterbeer :goodvibes

Drinking a Christmas tree... :lmao:

The trouble is that this makes me even more curious. ;)

Glad I'm not the only one who says things like this! When I tell my DH or my DD that goat cheese or lamb stew taste like 'wet dog', they always ask me how I could possibly know what a wet dog tastes like! So, how many Christmas trees have you consumed lately? :rotfl:

*picturing you stuffing Christmas tree in juicer*

Oh that wet dog thing. Totally agree with lamb stew (which I have never had but have been around...shudder).

Smell and taste are totally linked!

But after having acai berry Emergen-C and saying it tasted like cat pee, and having DH lift his eyebrows at me, I try to say that things taste like *what I imagine* something would taste. :)

The straw they give you was the main culprit for me. It's one of those wide, thick milkshake ones- meaning its absolutely impossible to suck up just one of those egg things. It's either zero or six at a time.

Hence the explosion part, hence the one and done for me (plus the surgery my scientifically inclined son had to perform on them - they squirt pretty far and leave interesting stains, btw....)

I had several during our last trip. Probably my favorite Wizarding World drink.

It's really minty and refreshing. I'm curious about the poster who thought it tasted like cinnamon - I wonder if they got a wonky one? I didn't get a cinnamon vibe. Edit: A trusted Orlando travel-planning site (not sure that I can link it here????) describes the Fishy Green Ale as a mix of mint and cinnamon. I honestly never tasted the cinnamon, but apparently to some people it is more obvious... or there is some variety in the mix amounts in a batch?? Anyway, I stand corrected! :)

The blueberry bobas are definitely surprising the first time you taste them. :)

Give it a try! It seems to be one of those love-it-or-hate-it things, but you may just fall on the "love it" side!! :)

It's a variation of Bubble Tea or Boba Tea, which is a popular Asian style drink. If there are Asian quick service restaurants in your area, you may find one that has it.

I've had the Fishy Green Ale, and while I enjoyed it, I found that the size of the drink the give you was too much for me. I got tired by the end of it. I found the Fizzy Orange Juice more refreshing for the hot sun. I never tasted cinnamon in the Fishy Green Ale, but the the Fizzy Orange Juice has cinnamon and sugar around the top of the glass, like a margarita. The fishy green ale is more of a milky drink. I wouldn't be surprised if the green part is Honeydew, as it's the right color and one of the popular flavors, and the tapioca or boba pearls are probably blueberry. But it would also explain why I got tired of it, because I'm not a big fan of honeydew.

Now that you mention it, a minted honeydew seems exactly right.

Thanks for posting what the pearls actually are! I had them in an iced tea in a Vietnamese restaurant, and the waitress couldn't tell me what they were (and I evidently couldn't ask LOL). She just kept asking " you want Pearl, no pearl??" I finally just decided that I did want them, but I had no idea what I was eating!! Ha

It's been a while since I had the drink, but it didn't really remind me of boba tea. Boba tea tapioca balls are rubbery and chewy- the blueberry pearls at the bottom of the Fishy Green Ale pop instantly when you bite them and release their own juice. Unless I'm remembering it wrong?
