Has anyone done any of the fishing excursions like the one at Bay Lake. Any information you could share would be helpful. Is it worth the price...would you do it again? Thanks!

I did one a few years ago, but it was at the lake by DTD. Only caught one medium sized bass and we had to use shiners...no lures. There are HUGE bass to be found in WDW waterways though.

Three years ago DS and I caught 21 nice sized Bass, Two of them 5 lbs. most of them 1 to 2 lbs. We had a blast. Good luck. :fish:

My Dh is booked for one in May. I think it is the Nitro trip from WL. Looking for more feedback!!

We go fishing every trip - most recently in December. We went twice - once from BWI (early excursion goes into World Showcase, down to MGM and at different places by the Epcot resorts) and once from Wilderness Lodge. We really enjoyed both. My husband, the fisherman in the family, prefers the Bay Lake area. We didn't have huge catches either time (about 10 fish), but a couple of good sized ones. It is expensive, so only you can decide if it is worth it to you, but we really like it and look forward to it every time.

Does anyone know if they let you fish on your own? I've been tempted to toss a line in near the boat launch at MGM...I've seen big bass there.

I'm asking for a friend's husband and he is a bass tournament fisherman from New Hampshire. Is this something that someone who tournament fishes would enjoy or is it more for people that don't get to fish too often?

Pretty sure he would love it, but the true fisherman will use artificial bait (provided) and it is much more challenging-we only caught one that way-they tend to be larger also than with live bait (also provided), we caught about 20 in 2 hours with live-nice 2 plus pounders. We went in August-I guess its always good down there-but April is the best he said. :fish:

My husband and my father did this 2 years ago. We were there Christmas week and their birthdays are 12/23 and 12/27 so my mother and I gave this to them as a birthday gift. They had a blast! They did the bay lake/seven seas lagoon trip out of Ft. Wilderness at 7 am. They caught more than 20 fish each and thoroughly enjoyed it!

This past year my husband took our oldest son out for some father/son bonding time. They did Seven Seas Lagoon from the GF at 7 am. They caught about 25 fish total (DH said they could have done more but he was helping DS). DS caught the biggest fish of the morning

Both trips they have had a guide named Dave. DH HIGHLY recommends him. Definitely knows his stuff (both times they caught a good bit more than any other fisherman who were returning at the same time) and he even took photos of them and emailed them to us. :)

We went in August and DB and i caught 10 fish on Bay Lake loved it. We will be going again in 2007. :thumbsup2

I thought the Nitro boats were only running out of CBR? DH and DS are probably going to go fishing in August, but DH thinks DS is more likely to fall out of the Nitro boat so they will just get the "regular" boat.

I'm glad to see people have gone in August and had decent luck! :)

Fishing excursions can be booked 90 days out. (At least that's what Recreation told me when I called 2 weeks ago.)

Has anyone fished at OKW? Is there cane fishing there? (rent the poles)

We have not, but have heard it is pretty inexpensive and fun.
