Today was moving day for the big plecostomus (algae eater, catfish) that was at my Mom's house. He's pretty old and has been in one tank all his life. He's also large and very feisty so this was no simple net 'em and bag 'em transport.
I set up a nice 15 gallon tank with new gravel and such at my place early. Then, it was off with two big nets and a cooler to transport him. He put up a fight when I tried to get him out of his tank and then attached himself to one net.
Finally, in the cooler and into my car. He thrashed around until he got a big bump from a fast stop I made on the highway.
He's now in his new tank, staring at his favorite toy (a stuffed Creature from the Black Lagoon) and not moving. His fins are up though so I know he's agitated. Poor thing. He's probably in shock after this adventure today.
