Do you usually place a tag on the gifts stating who they are from? Or- should it just be a random placing of gifts? I am trying to get things together for my cruise and I was just wondering...

Well I can tell you what I was told, yes and no. ;)

And in the end, some did, some didn't. But it was great either way. :thumbsup2

I think it's really up to you, however, I would love to know who gave me any gift so I can express my gratitude. This is especially true when people really personalize their gift to your liking!

For mine, I put my gifts in a "loot party bag" and stuck a label on the bag. That made it really easy.

We place little gifts each day in the fish extenders, depending on the theme or port of the day. We don't include name tags.

And I have to say that is incredibly generous! :flower3: I was so amazed with the generosity of the dissers. As someone who was new at the time, I was simply blown away.

So although I have never cruised with you, I want to thank you and others like you for doing that.

So, if you put everything in a loot bag, did you only give things out 1 time? Or did you do more than one loot bag?

We had nearly 60 people participating. You will be surprised how long it takes to make that many deliveries. So if you have quite a few people playing along in the Fish Extender Fun, I suggest only making rounds once so you save some time! With the large number of participants, we had goodies come every single day, so I certainly didn't feel the need to spread out the gifts over 2 or more deliveries.

Our group was rather on the small side I guess (11 families) so the person who organized our FE exchange assigned days to each of us so that we'd be anonymous and so we'd sure to have stuff spread out over the whole week. Some of us stuck to our assigned day and some passed stuff out a little each day. I was originally going to go ahead & deliver something every day but then I decided to get it overwith in one shot. So I bought clear goodie bags at Michaels and some rubdown letters and stuff from the scrapbooking aisle and decorated each bag. I used the Lime Green Mickey Heads from the paint dept. at Home Depot to make name tags & the cabin numbers. I put everyone's DIS name but I didn't sign them, I gave them anonymously. I think everyone was able to figure out who gave what tho for the most part. A lot of people gave something that indicated where they were from. For example, being from near DC I went to the Cherry Blossom Festival last spring and bought pens for one of my gifts - so that was pretty much a dead give-a-way. But it was one of like 6 things. It was just enough that I knew they'd figure it out.:)

I tried to suggest this and I tried to suggest the one just above you -- everybody having one day, but most people on my cruise want to deliver several gifts on non-assigned dates. I think I will go with the goodie bag suggestion and deliver 1 or 2 times over the course of the cruise.

We had a little under under 30 cabins to visit. My DW made up tags with our DIS names and fist names only. We had the cabin numbers on the back of the tag to make it easier to find but as we found out, they were not in order and every deck we visited I had to empty the box and re-sort LOL. One thing we will do again is the print out of the deck plans. Again my DW organised. She took a highlighter to the cabins we had to visit. The entire delivery took maybe a half hour and it was lots of fun.
We'd rather see name tags so you don't have to guess at who the mystery gift came from. We still have 2 bowls of candy we are slowly working away at :) lots of fun indeed

I went on two cruises in September. One had over 120 staterooms participating in the FE exchange and I did not label my gifts. The second one had only 10 stateroom and I labeled everything. I have to admit that the first cruise was somewhat last minute and I basically run out of time.

Our FE organizer also emailed all of us the deck plans with each participating cabin marked with an arrow. And even with only 11 cabins in our group we were still spread out on every single deck from Forward to Aft and on both sides of the ship....so it still took about 1/2 hour to do the delivery. (Our assigned day was the first day so we didn't have our bearings yet on the ship either.) Another thing that slowed me down was that I had labeled my goodie bags with their DIS names & cabin # but I had to be sure I was putting the right goodie bag in the right FE. (I labeled them because I had done a couple of gifts that were customized to a point.) Making everything identical and not labeling would make it faster. I also had made a customized door sign for each cabin with their DIS name on it so I was also pulling those out as I went. The more customizing you do the longer it will take.

We all had our assigned days so it was spread out but some people decided to deliver something every day in addition to their assigned day. It worked out well as we often returned to our room and found new goodies had been delivered!

What time of day do most people deliver? I want to make sure I deliver when I know the gifts will not stay in the fish extender too long just in case someone decides to take it.:confused3

Then i would say you should deliver when people are going to do that one last check before retiring for the night.

Yes it does take alot of time to deliver we had about 18 rooms on my first cruise and i was thinking of delivering everyday as i had made magnets to correspond with the theme of the day.......pirate night, formal night, halloween, etc but it was way tooooo much and i ended up just doing 2 times and putting them all in bags......It was funny casue i reallly didnt have bags so i found bags, i had a couple gift bags for other things i had bags from things i purchased i had zip lock bags etc ended up with enough and sat on my verandah and put everything together.
