Firsts, Fourths, and Farewells (4/28 Back to the Future!)

Hey everyone!
So I apologize for the long delay - life took over being very hectic.
But now it's on to Day Nine - Stay Tuned!

As we all snoozed away in dreamland, Mom stayed up to 1AM.
She couldn’t sleep thinking about all the things she needed to do in order to be ready to check out the next morning.
When we finally awoke, she was running around doing all the last minute things.
And I spent the time running all the bags out to the Airline Check-In area so they could hold our luggage for the day.
Isn’t the morning of your last day always so depressing?

Well, to cheer us up, we hopped a bus to the Magic Kingdom and then headed to the monorail.
After a bit of a wait, we boarded the resort line.

We quickly sized up our day and made some last minute adjustments.
Using my trusty iPhone, I loaded the WDW Dining App (which was in BETA back then) and quickly switched our lunch ADR from Kona to Liberty Tree Tavern.
The thinking was that we did not want to have to leave the park and miss valuable park time on our last day.
And we had heard good things about Liberty Tree Tavern.

At about 8:30 we finally arrived at the Grand Floridian for our breakfast at 1900 Park Fare.
We had ADR’s for 8:10 but there was no problem getting in and we were excited as we had never eaten here for breakfast before.
We were excited for some characters, some good food, and some fun.
After all, this is Disney’s Supercalifragilistic Breakfast!
Disney2011DayNine004-1.jpg

While we waited, J took the girls outside to pose with the namesake of this breakfast.
They were decked out in their Mary Poppins shirts of course!!
You see, the girls had just seen Mary Poppins at the Kennedy Center with Unca.
Disney2011DayNine004-2.jpg

Then, we posed for the “entrance picture.”
We asked them to take a picture on our camera as well.
We decided not to buy the packages so here's the one on my camera:
Disney2011DayNine004-3.jpg

We were then led to our table basically in the middle of the restaurant.
Things started off great with our favorite juice – although here they called it “Grand Juice.”
Otherwise, this nectar of the gods is POG (called “Aloha Juice” in ‘Ohana and “Jambo Juice” at Boma or Tusker House.)

Then, the characters descended.
First, was Mad Hatter who was quite the character indeed.
Disney2011DayNine036.jpg

Disney2011DayNine005.jpg

He kept checking the time.
And even got Unca in on the fun!
Disney2011DayNine006.jpg

Disney2011DayNine007.jpg

I wanted to jump in as well.
And you can see Pooh Bear was almost upon us in the background.
Very odd mix of Wonderlanders and visitors from the Hundred Acre Wood.
Disney2011DayNine008.jpg

For those of you that have read any of my TR’s before (or even this one), you will recognize the next smile.
It is reserved entirely for hugging tubby little buddies all stuffed with fluff.
Disney2011DayNine012.jpg

Disney2011DayNine013.jpg

Disney2011DayNine014.jpg

Mary herself was not quite behind.
And she was delighted to see herself on the princess and Mom’s shirts!
Disney2011DayNine018.jpg

Disney2011DayNine019.jpg

Disney2011DayNine021.jpg

Disney2011DayNine022.jpg

After meeting such a proper lady like Mary, Mom apparently figured it was the perfect time for tea.
Twinings anyone?
Disney2011DayNine024.jpg

And, as if almost on cue, Alice wandered over to crash our Tea Party.
From the look of it, she REALLY wanted that tea…
Disney2011DayNine025.jpg

Disney2011DayNine027.jpg

Disney2011DayNine028.jpg

The characters kept coming and, apparently saved the best for last.
Surprise!!!
Disney2011DayNine029.jpg

It was time to Bounce with Tigger of course!
Disney2011DayNine031.jpg

Disney2011DayNine032.jpg

Disney2011DayNine034.jpg

So while the characters were a blast, the food was a bit disappointing.
The lines for the omelettes were horrible and both J and Mom disappeared for quite some time.
The scrambled eggs were really very bad but at least the omelettes were okay (assuming you were willing to wait forever for them).
The eggs benedicts were pretty good so I stuck with them.
Mom’s favorite part was the bread pudding with vanilla sauce.
All in all, not one of the better character meals but it was fun to try.
After stuffing ourselves and meeting lots of friends, it was back to the monorail for a day at the Magic Kingdom!
Come along!

Sorry to hear your meal wasn't very good. At least the characters were fun though :)

Mary Poppins is a favorite of mine so I love the girls tees :thumbsup2

Adorable! :flower3:

I love that mom and DD had matching Mary Poppins shirts. I love Mary - she is always so pretty and so refined!

The character interaction looks wonderful. Too bad the food was just "eh".

Looking forward to reading about your last day. Can't believe it's your last day. Bummer. Will you be doing another trip report when this is wrapped up?

I am SOOOOOO behind on trip reports.
I promise to get to them all and am even considering doing two quick ones in parallel.
One of these days I might even catch up!

To be fair, I should really be writing a trip report for my Mother/Daughter trip to Flower & Garden Festival sometime soon!
And of course, since I am at The World right now for a girl's weekend with my BFF, I will have yet another one to do.
It's a shame I don't have more tie to get them done but I am too busy planning toward robe for our next trip!

After breakfast we hopped on the monorail and over to the Magic Kingdom.
Disney2011DayNine040-4.jpg

Then it was on to Tomorrowland.
And, yes, our little princess was ready to take the next step.
After Barnstormer and Big Thunder Mountain, she was now raring to try Space Mountain.
So J glady obliged.
Disney2011DayNine044.jpg

While our little girl was turning into a thrill rider, the rest of us headed to the Peoplemover to see Space Mountain from a different angle.
Disney2011DayNine046-1.jpg

Disney2011DayNine046-2.jpg

We had lots of fun though as this is one of our “must-dos” every time.
Disney2011DayNine046-4.jpg

Then we decided to explore Tomorowland a bit.
DS even visited the RoboNewz stand.
Did you guys every stop to read the latest news?
Some little blue alien apparently escaped from an Intergalactic prison…
Disney2011DayNine047.jpg

Then it was off to save the universe with Buzz Lightyear!

Disney2011DayNine048-8.jpg

And then it was back to Space Mountain to see if our little girl survived.
But I’ll let J fill everyone in on her experience…

:cheer2: for the brave princess.

Looks the rest of you got a lot done while they were on SM. Nice pictures :thumbsup2

Oh, boy, was DD nervous, as you can clearly tell. As far as the coasters go in Disney World, this is the scariest of them all, by reputation. :scared1:
Something DD's mom and dad will never set foot on. So, what's a young girl to think about it?

We got through the line really fast and, as we got closer and closer to the big moment...

Can you say jitters?

And anyone who has ever been on Space Mountain before knows that they have the photo taken in the WORST location possible. It's before you actually
are doing anything. It's not a reaction to something happening or just finished. Even so, DD was looking for it to start already.

So, what do you think the verdict was?

:confused3 popcorn::

After a whole lot of laughing on my part, and I couldn't hear what on DD's part (it's tough to tell who is screaming, who is laughing, and who is so
scared that they can't utter a sound)... the verdict...

:hyper: :bitelip:

“That was AWESOME!!!!”

 :cool1: :dance3: :yay: :worship:

Just look at the smile of victory on her face:

:thumbsup2 :lovestruc :woohoo:

Two more things which I was very happy to hear (even if it is just limited to this narrow context):
While we were exiting the ride: “When I grow up, I want to be like you, J.”

And, as we were walking to meet up with the rest of the Capell clan: “J, if you're thinking of going on a scary coaster and you're not sure about it, I'll go
on it with you so you won't be so scared.”

Tears to a proud Unca's eyes.

So we picked up our adventurers en route to where else?
Adventureland!
Disney2011DayNine052.jpg

Mom, however, headed off to Main Street to shop and have a “chat” with Guest Relations.
But that’s another story.

The rest of us had another agenda.
Avast ye mateys!
Disney2011Photopass1256.jpg

We be in search of fame and fortune.
But first, what pray tell is that in our canon’s sights?
Disney2011DayNine053-1.jpg

Disney2011DayNine053-2.jpg

Why its another crew heading off to Tortuga!
We let the scallywags live and boarded on our own vessel.
Disney2011DayNine054.jpg

Disney2011DayNine055.jpg

And, don’t forget – We Wants the Redhead!
Disney2011DayNine058.jpg

After pillaging and plundering it was time for a snack.
And what better snack is there in Adventureland than a tasty drop of heaven some call a Dole Whip Float!
Disney2011DayNine061.jpg

Disney2011DayNine060.jpg

Disney2011DayNine062.jpg

Disney2011DayNine063.jpg

Then it was on to Fantasyland to meet Mom and hop on our final rides.
But first, what was Mom up to?

I love J's update. :goodvibes The kids are really lucky to have a special "unca" like him!

And mmmmm Dole Whip floats :thumbsup2

Yeah I think we'll keep him. :)

And I sooooo want a Dole Whip float now. :)

While we were adventuring in Adventureland, Mom made her way to Main Street.
First she headed to Guest Relations.
Honestly, I don’t remember what the issue was – I think our new Annual Passes were having issues with the fastpass machines.
But Mom emerged with a couple of sets of Magic Fastpasses.
On her way back, she stopped at the Confectionary for some fudge.
Mmmmmm…

Disney2011DayNine064-3.jpg

Disney2011DayNine064-2.jpg

After her snack stop, the parade was in full swing so Mom stopped for some photos.
Disney2011DayNine065-1.jpg

Disney2011DayNine065-3.jpg

Disney2011DayNine065-4.jpg

Disney2011DayNine065-5.jpg

Then Mom caught a glimpse of a very odd site.
If you recall the Celebrate! parade/show, they fire off streamers at the party stops.
Well, apparently there is a crew of CM’s who gets the fun job of cleaning up afterwards.
This poor guy was responsible for removing the streamers from the trees.
Disney2011DayNine065-7.jpg

Mom then headed over to the hub and decided to take some Photopass pictures of her own.
Gotta love the Tinker Bell and castle shots.

Stay tuned for our final morning in Fantasyland!

BTW, I've been in Phoenix at a conference this past week.
And on my off day, I just *HAD* to check out Chase Field and add it to the list of baseball stadiums I've visited.
So why am I telling you guys this?
Well look at what I found near the entrance!
Doesn't it just make you smile?

It totally makes me smile! :goodvibes

Nice picture of the wenches - the lighting is perfect. Strong work.

Nothing says relaxation like a dole whip! :thumbsup2

Great PP pics of mom. I thought she had gone missing. :rotfl:

Mickey + Baseball - it doesn't get any better! :goodvibes

And mom wasn't missing - just getting a breather! :goodvibes

I haven't had breakfast yet so those treats look especially good!

The PP pics of mom are great!

I love the baseball Mickeys! Our Tigers have 2 and we have to stop and visit them each time we go :)

It was a nice surprise to see Mickey at the game.
I'll have to see if they have him at Nationals Park next time we go...
