Firsts, Fourths, and Farewells (4/28 Back to the Future!)

Mom finally met us in Fantasyland to decide on our morning agenda.
With 3 sets of Magic Fastpasses in hand and only one morning left, we let X decide on the final attractions for our trip.
It was his birthday trip after all.

So first on X’s list was Peter Pan’s Flight and we cashed in the first of the Magic Fastpasses.
Off to Neverland!

Disney2011DayNine069.jpg

Then I decided to take a picture of the old Skyway station.
Rumors were already flying at this point that this would soon go the way of Yesterland.
So before you go enjoy those new Tangled restrooms, take a look back and check this out:
Disney2011DayNine071.jpg

Next on X’s list was the Carrousel.
So the kids hopped on with Mom and J and I headed over to another destination scheduled for demolition.
I never actually wandered through before this trip but I wanted to make a point to check out the Seven Dwarves Mine gift shop.
It’s a small gift shop near Snow White Scary Adventures and no longer exists.
But what I really liked was the little details throughout.
It definitely looked like the dwarves were still working in here.
From the tools hanging on the wall to the gems all over, you could easily see those seven little dwarves working the day away in here.
Heigh Ho!

Disney2011DayNine073.jpg

Disney2011DayNine074.jpg

Disney2011DayNine075.jpg

I continued exploring and came across something new.
Apparently they were testing something for the Beauty and the Beast area in the New Fantasyland.
Check out Maurice’s new inventions – a Popping Machine!
Disney2011DayNine076.jpg

About then the kids finished up on the Carrousel and it was off to the third attraction on X’s touring plan.
Come join us for a trek through the Hundred Acre Wood as we cash in our next set of Magic Fastpasses
However, before we got there, the antsy kids were running around and down went the princess.
So while Mom and J took the kids, I took the princess off to the side for band aids and a time out.

Disney2011DayNine093.jpg

I headed over to Sir Mickey’s next for a refrigerator magnet.
That’s our family souvenir and we have one from every trip on our fridge.
In the meantime, J was pretending to be a flying elephant…
Disney2011DayNine094-1.jpg

Disney2011DayNine094-2.jpg

We had time for one more attraction before lunch.
So X – what will it be?

Cute detail pics from the Snow White shop. I don't think I ever went in there :confused3

The popping machine is so clever! I cannot wait to see New Fantasyland!

X was doing a good job picking the rides. Not sure what would be next....maybe Buzz?

Disney2011DayNine094-1.jpg

Yeah Maybe.....Not! :rotfl2:

X was really picking all the classics - way to go X. I love PP's ride even though I fail miserably at picture taking every single time I am in there. So tempting to use the flash........:rolleyes1 But I resisted!

Another fun update!

X was doing pretty well in his selections.
But next up was not Buzz.
Mom helped him decide this one...

Yeah, it's always tough to get shots in there.
And are you suggesting that Unca doesn't look like a flying elephant? :confused3

Hooray for Space Mountain! I agree, it is awesome! How wonderful that J was there so she could give it a try.

You guys got a lot accomplished in Magic Kingdom that morning!

X made some good choices (and those Magic Fastpasses go a long way!) :thumbsup2

X chose to finish up the trip with Mickey’s Philharmagic!
And we thought that was a perfect idea!

After smelling the wonderful feast from Lumiere, we knew it was time for us to eat as well.
If you recall, on the monorail this morning we rescheduled our reservation from Kona to Liberty Tree Tavern.
Disney2011DayNine100.jpg

For those who have never been, Liberty Tree is divided into many rooms – each of which is dedicated to a famous American.
We were seated in the Betsy Ross room.
Disney2011DayNine104.jpg

Disney2011DayNine102.jpg

After we ordered, I explored the rest of the rooms.
Each one was chock full of details.
In the one dedicated to my favorite founding father, Benjamin Franklin, there were portraits and many of his inventions.
Check out the keys he used for his kite experiment among other things…

Disney2011DayNine106.jpg

Disney2011DayNine107.jpg

Next up was John Paul Jones.
Disney2011DayNine109.jpg

Disney2011DayNine108.jpg

Paul Revere’s room even has the two lights to warn the colonists.
Disney2011DayNine110.jpg

Disney2011DayNine111.jpg

Disney2011DayNine112.jpg

George Washington had a room as one might expect.
The princess wanted to be in this picture herself.
Disney2011DayNine113.jpg

Disney2011DayNine114.jpg

Disney2011DayNine115.jpg

Disney2011DayNine116.jpg

Then there was Thomas Jefferson’s room.

Disney2011DayNine120-2.jpg

Now, let’s talk food.
First, we loved the mugs with the restaurant logo on them.
Disney2011DayNine121.jpg

Appetizers were up first and our favorite is the Tavern Cheese Plate.
MMMMmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.
Disney2011DayNine123-1.jpg

Disney2011DayNine123-2.jpg

Then my favorite part – the Pilgrim’s Feast.
A huge portion of roast turkey, really good stuffing, mashed potatoes, green beans, and lots of yummy gravy.
Disney2011DayNine124.jpg

J went with the Declaration Salad appetizer followed by the Freedom Pasta.
Disney2011DayNine126.jpg

Disney2011DayNine127.jpg

Mom also had the Tavern Cheese along with the grilled chicken salad for her entrée.
Disney2011DayNine128.jpg

The princess went with the kids’ version of the turkey platter complete with green beans, mashed potatoes, and apples.
Disney2011DayNine129.jpg

X and DS both had macaroni and cheese with grapes.
Before dessert, it was time for a restroom break
Disney2011DayNine130.jpg

For dessert, the kids all ordered ice cream.
Look how patriotic it looks!
Disney2011DayNine131.jpg

I went with the chocolate cake.
Very good but way too rich – I couldn’t even finish it.
Disney2011DayNine132.jpg

J had the Toffee Tart but liked the Toffee much better than the tart.
Disney2011DayNine133.jpg

Mom went with the Apple Tart.
Disney2011DayNine134.jpg

As we finished up, our friends from T-Rex came in for their ADR’s.
We hung out a bit with them but then it was unfortunately time to get going.
Disney2011DayNine135.jpg

Stay tuned as we close out this trip report (finally!)

X made a great choice. We love Philharmagic.

Your tour of LTT brought back fond memories of when your little princess gave us that tour :goodvibes

Aren't their mugs cute?! We had a server give us one when we were celebrating an anniversary there. It made a great souvenir.

Your meals all look really good! Thanks for the update.

And are you suggesting that Unca doesn't look like a flying elephant? :confused3

I think Unca needs a little bit more practice before he achieves flying elephant status. :rotfl:

So I have eaten at LTT three or four times and had no idea that the rooms had names. Do you think that's because they always sit me in exactly the same room? :confused3 I better put a request in for a room change.

Love lunch there. It's one of my favorites. The entrees are great and the desserts are always so yummy.

I'm sad you are almost done, but I am looking forward to your next TR!

Now you know where she learned all her information! :thumbsup2
Your trip was a couple of months after this one... :rolleyes1

Okay, so which room do you always get?
We've actually been a couple of times since this report and always seem to get the Betsy Ross section... :confused3
It's definitely our "go-to" lunch in the Magic Kingdom now.

It's definitely our "go-to" lunch in the Magic Kingdom now.

Wait on that "go-to" designation until after you finally get to Be Our Guest :cloud9: during your next trip.
(How weird is it for ME to be the one giving the Disney recommendation to YOU? :confused3 :cool1:)

How sad it is to say good-bye to the Magic Kingdom.
Disney2011DayNine136.jpg

We picked out a nice little family of 5 and handed off our last Magic Fastpasses.
We love forwarding the magic along!
And then we boarded our bus back to Pop Century.
And I picked up our luggage from storage.
Pretty big bags, eh?
Disney2011DayNine141.jpg

Mom, J, DS, and X headed to Everything Pop to grab sandwiches for dinner later at the airport.
The princess found something else to do…
Disney2011DayNine139.jpg

Apparently it was time to build a Disney castle (and meet a friend along the way)…
Disney2011DayNine140.jpg

Disney2011DayNine142.jpg

Disney2011DayNine143.jpg

And then she made the Tower of Terror.
Disney2011DayNine144.jpg

The rest of the gang finally emerged.
But first DS had a special surprise.
Look what he found inside!
Disney2011DayNine146.jpg

And then it was time to get in our cruiser and head home.
Disney2011DayNine145.jpg

Disney2011DayNine147.jpg

Disney2011DayNine148.jpg

Disney2011DayNine149.jpg

In the airport, we headed through security and then had our dinner.
The gang had ordered Mom and I Roast Beef & Bleu sandwiches while J had a turkey ciabatta.
J liked his but Mom and I were not very impressed.
DS had nuggets (no, he doesn’t mind if they are cold).
And X and the princess had hot dogs (they also don’t mind if they are cold).

The flight home was good and we tried to make the best of it but it always sucks heading home.

Disney2011DayNine152.jpg

Disney2011DayNine154.jpg

Disney2011DayNine155.jpg

When we arrived home, it turned out we had just missed a big snow.
So we had to shovel out our cars.
Luckily a friend of ours had driven to the airport earlier and shoveled a bit for us so it didn’t take much.
And finally we were home.
Stay tuned for the final wrap-up and a kick-off a new TR (or two)...

And then she made the Tower of Terror.
Disney2011DayNine144.jpg

I'll get her on that yet, too. :thumbsup2 (Certainly my personal favorite, even above Space Mountain.) But I think it'll take a while to convince Stacey to permit it. :goodvibes

When we arrived home, it turned out we had just missed a big snow.

Don't undersell it, Mike. It was SNOWMAGEDDON that we missed out on, wasn't it?

So, as you just read, we started off 2011 with a great trip.
And, if you recall, we upgraded to Annual Passes on our first day.
We already had a November trip scheduled and figured that AP’s were worth it if we decided to do 2 trips in one year.
However, once we got home, those AP’s starting burning a hole in our pockets.
So we decided to have a little fun in 2011 and take each child for their own special weekend!
Mom would take the princess on an All Girls Mother’s Day Weekend at Flower & Garden. (Mom said she’ll try to get to that TR soon).

Next up would be the guys’ Summer Trip as I took DS to our first Star Wars Weekends for the opening of Star Tours 2.0!!

Lastly, Unca decided he was going to run the 2012 Walt Disney World Marathon.
So X and I decided to tag along for a Run Disney Weekend!

Yup – you read that right.
I’m gonna skip the November trip (for now) and try to write the two Guys’ Weekends reports in parallel (with lots of help from Unca).
So go subscribe right now because we’re gonna start with a blast!
