We wake up early on Saturday 8/16 with the knowledge that this is our last park day. We still have not done EPCOT or AK. How sad this makes us! I say to Sue "You know, I could change those kids dentist appts on Tuesday to another day. " She is supposed to get her hair and nails done on Tuesday also. I think There is NO WAY she will agree to this.
Surprise, she will cancel her appt also! We could leave Monday instead of Sunday AM. (We know going back we will need 2 days not one: no adrenalin to get us back there, ha ha)

Now if we can only get our room another night. I place a call to CRO who tells me that we would have to check out and recheck in (probably to another room). As we look over our clutter strewn rooms we decide NO way! I call the front desk and they check with room assigner who says we can stay but we will have to pay rack rate for the last night since it is not thru CRO. We agree because we do not want to spend precious time packing. (hopefully DH won't read this part, ha ha!)
The thrill of having 2 more park days!!!!!! We go back to lobby to get all new keys. The CM is very nice and happy for us at our joy of staying. Kids are jumping around excitedly. I look for the new park hours times but they still have the old ones in the lobby.

We have a wonderful Boatwrights breakfast with a great CM named Bruce. Omelets again and mickey pancakes. He tells us that EMH park for Sunday is MK. (we were hoping for AK).

Off to Epcot. Arrived at 9:30 AM and it is packed! Kids and Sue ride Spaceship earth while I go for 6 Mission Space FP. Time to go back is 1:19 PM.

We proceed to Ellens Journey and DS hears someone say it is loud inside and won't ride. He and I explore Wonders of Life while we wait. He really enjoys all the hands on experiences there. This seems to be the hottest day yet. Very humid.
Sue and boys go on HISTA (we got surprise FP for them with the Mission Space ones). I play in Kodak lab with DD and DS. DD really wants to ride Figment but DS remembers the "smell" from last time. There is no wait so I ask CM if he thinks I can send her on alone. He smiles at worried mom and says "Of course. this is Disney. " She happily and independantly (age 9) goes on and we get her at the exit. Sue and boys come back and we all ride while she stays with DS.

Off to Mission Space: Riders me, DD, Nick (12) and Matt (10)
Sue gets extreme motion sickness and opts to stay with my DS (6).
We go in and I am so excited and nervous that I can barely look at stuff. All I keep seeing are the signs saying this ride will make you sick if you suffer from motion sickness! (did I mention that I can not ride the teacups?) DD starts to get a little nervous and is thinking about chickening. Especially after the preshow with Gary Sinise when he says let the attendant know if you do not wish to ride. I encourage her to keep going. I am getting really excited and really want to ride. I say "OOOH, I feel like we are really going to Mars!!!" People look at me strangely, ha ha and the 12 year old rolls his eyes.

As we wait to load our spaceship, the CM comes around and DD wants to bolt. I resort to Bribery!! I will buy you a Mission Space pin when we are done. It is only a 4 minute ride! Not working. I say I will buy your teacher a Mission space pin also and you can go visit her on the first day. (her third grade teacher from last year is a big disney pin collecter) This works! Yay! WE get on.

I am the commander, DD the pilot, Matt the engineer and Nick the navigator. They make it really easy for you to push the buttons. Liftoff was the coolest thing I ever did. We are yelling happily.
Wait a minute: I don't feel sick. This is great. Look straight ahead. Push my buttons when they light up. I did it. Manual control. Joystick back, forward. Thanks Gary for telling us what to do. We have landed on Mars!!!!!!!!!!:Pinkbounc
I still feel good. No sickness. Awesome. DD says that was not too bad. Boys want to do it again.
Go out into the command center exit. Uh-OH. I feel like Im spinning. DD says I don't feel too good. We sit with others on the floor of the Air conditioned store and sip on a sprite. Headache for 2 hours after. Boys ride again with the remaining 2 FP. DD and I are glad we rode it, but we are never riding it again!
Sit there and watch all the sick people come out. One boy pukes and mom is buying him a new shirt. They need a room with couches for people to recover. People are sitting all over the floor of the store.
(this is getting long so I will continue on new thread)

Hmmmmmm still can't make up my mind to ride Mission Space or not - thanks for posting!

You Gotta ride! (If only once....)

firstmickey, Enjoying your trip report immensely! Thanks for so much detail! I admire your spunk and spirit! I would load my kids in the car just like you, in a heartbeat! (But then, I live in Florida!)

PS Been to Pittsburgh several times for Water Conferences. LOVE your city! It's on my top 5 list!

How funny!
I was just finishing up reading your trip reports and typed you a message about mine. Then I click email and see you.

Pittsburgh is a beautiful city. I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Just wanted to say that my wife and I just got back from WDW, and rode Mission Space twice on different days. Neither of us got sick or suffered any ill effects at all from the ride, and not only that, we didn't see anyone who did either. In fact, all we heard as we were coming out was people saying how awesome it was. Without exception, everyone we spoke to loved the ride.

I hate spinning, and wouldn't even think of riding the teacups. Even Dumbo makes me feel ill. I can do rollercoasters fine, but if I do more than two or three in a day I get sick.

I wonder if all of the people who get sick on Mission Space all go together in big groups? That'd explain how some people see lots of sick people, and others like myself see none :)

That is funny how everyone has a different experience.
There must have been 10 people lying on the floor of the command center and the shop. We just sat for a while. It could have been the heat also.

I didn't mean to discourage people from riding it. I thought it was the greatest ride.
Hmm. Maybe I will have to ride it again at least once. At the end of the day.:D
But I probably don't have a shot of getting DD on it again!;)

Call me wierd, but that makes me really want to ride that ride.:teeth:

I am enjoying your trip reports, I get really motion sick too, but have to try Mission Space, I am hoping if I am careful it won't be too bad.
