We are new owners at VB, and heading there next month. Since I am a map person, will Guest Services have accurate maps of the area (Indian River County), or should I order one from AAA?

I really need to see things on a map to get there in an orderly manner, I hate the old --go to the second light, turn right, take the next left, etc. if you know what I mean. Thanks for your help.

They have a very simple map they give you at check in with local things listed. If you are more comfortable with details - I'd order a map.

I'm the same way, I need a map so I can picture things out in my mind getting around. I've never been real impressed with mapquest - too much misinformation (IMHO) but like a paper map I can carry around in the car.
I had no luck in Iowa's AAA getting the maps so we bought a few our last trip to Vero at the local bookstore. AJKMOM, let me know if you have no luck getting one. I could send you one of ours. We've been members at Vero since they opened and just love the area.
Have a great trip,
Steve in Iowa

I've also had trouble getting an area map from AAA. Your best bet is to look at maps on AAA or Mapquest and use the rough maps from MS. Once you get to Vero, you will probably be able to buy a local map in a store. I've tried to get one from "out of the area" and haven't had much luck. If you do find a source, please share. :)

Thanks for the replies. I am going to see if my local AAA will order one. It's nice to see I'm not the only Map-person. :wizard:

I called my local AAA offfice with my membership number and requested a local map of VB. Two days later, I received a "Fort Pierce-Vero Beach" area map in the mail. I guess I will hold on to it like gold!

We found that Guest Services at VB was extremely helpful to us by printing out a Mapquest when we needed one. They printed off one for us to get to Palm Beach and another with directions to Punta Gorda. They were the best! Otherwise, we'd have had to pay the $5 to access the internet for the 1/2 hour on each of the 2 days that we needed a map.
Oh yeah, they also gave us the tip on where the cheapest place to get gasoline was located. It saved us about 10 cents a gallon! Even without having the parks close by, VB sure knows how to keep the magic going! Have a great time!

Go to any Walmart in Florida - what you want to buy is a Florida Atlas - there is only one company making them - the name escapes me right now, but it looks like any national atlas but covers Florida in detail, and I do mean in detail, including dirt roads! I use it for locating river access roads on canoe trips sometimes.

There is a grid on the back cover - you look at that to figure out what square of the grip you want. Each square is numbered and corresponds to the page. It is excellent.

Here is a little more info on the atlas:

Florida Atlas and Gazetteer by Delorme (company)

It is 13.57 on Amazon - you can view the back page to see what I mean

Walmart usually has them up front near the registers in the middle of the store
