First Trip to DL - solo (COMPLETE) new link p.43

Good choice on a take out for the first night. I'm always so tired and prefer to just kick it in my room getting settled and hanging out rather than dashing off to the parks. OK cool! Can't wait to hear you tell about our day, you will do it more justice than I will with your newfound Disneyland excitement.

Me, I loved our time together, but found much different things amazing than you did! :rotfl:

I agree, there aren't enough loungers at the pool! I'm a chair saver .

I'm with Alison and if you notice in my reports we never do the parks on arrival day. I like to also check things out, unpack, and chill. Whether its Disneyland (driving) or WDW (flying) its always a journey for us.

Glad you booked your massage for a time when you wouldn't feel rushed. I have yet to learn that and pack everyday so full.

Can't wait to read about your adventures in the park.

Pam - I think you might enjoy a Mountain Dew from time to time, huh? :rotfl2:

Love it, can't get enough of it. It's my form of coffee. I have long ago accepted its my drug of choice. I've tried to kick the habit several times but always go back to my beloved diet dew

The resort is so beautiful. I have an idea. I think they should redo VWL so they look exactly the same. It was be so perfect!

I thought the exact same thing! I would stay there all the time. I like the WL but loved the GC!

Dinner looks like a great choice.

Sadly it wasn't the best. I was expecting Chipotle delicious and this just wasn't it.

Lovely first day. It must have been so convenient to have everything so close.

Everything was within a 15 minute walk, it was so nice. And that was at a very leisurely pace.

Can't wait to share about our day, it's going to take many updates though, I took oodles of photos!

Day 1 was a nice way to start the trip. I just wish I had planned a longer trip but I know that for next time.

Me, I loved our time together, but found much different things amazing than you did! :rotfl:

Pray tell, what things did you think were amazing?

I agree, there aren't enough loungers at the pool! I'm a chair saver .

Well I don't like to sit right next to anyone so needed a buffer chair too, most days it was fine but one day practically all were taken.

With WDW I've had an AP the last two years so feel no guilt about going in for one or two rides and going very slowly. But I didn't want to 'waste' a park day for less than 4 hours in the parks.

Glad you booked your massage for a time when you wouldn't feel rushed. I have yet to learn that and pack everyday so full.

If I booked it earlier I might have booked another later in the trip, that massage was magnificent.

Can't wait to read about your adventures in the park.

:) can't wait to share them, my day with Alison was absolutely perfect.

Ugh, I hate having to delete things to make room for photos. I haven't erased my Candy Crush yet, although I should. Haven't played it in months because we're stuck on level 208 and can't get out of it!!! So frustrating.

Those loungers look so comfortable. I bet people fall asleep in them all the time, especially if the weather is perfect.

Your room is beautiful. I love the grounds. It really is a lovely hotel.

My husband insisted I download Candy Crush, because he wanted at least one fast ticket. I downloaded it and loved it (at first). Other than 147 (which took me 5 days to pass), I was moving through all the levels quickly. Most were way less than a day. It did take me a little over a day to pass 347. Once I passed 395, I could only play on Facebook for a while. That was irritating. Then, they released an app update that went up to 410 just as I beat that level. Now, the app still only goes to 410. I have been stuck on 425 for a bit (not even counting days anymore). I started playing 06/30/13 though, so it has been over 2.5 months of play. I play a lot less now, because I need the computer to play on Facebook (which I am rarely on). I wish I never started, but I have to see it through. My husband gave up on level 208. He calls them the Devil's Horns and said I got lucky to beat it. I went back and beat it three more times after he said that, but he will not let me pass it for him.

Great update Pam! I can't get over how belle the resort is. It reminds me of The Wilderness Lodge. I wonder was it also created by Peter Dominik? On the first night we always grab a take out maybe from the Earl at DTD or Quick service at resort. Isn't it great to just enjoy it in bed watching a show? Is that show good you watched? Jo and I always treat ourselves to a boxset in Walmart when we come out to play in the evening in our studio. Due to my illness I get very tired and don't often go out at night so we enjoy watching a series with a take out or after eating early. Last time we got hooked on Mad Med and Homeland. Then Breaking Bad...so this time we are looking for recommendations.

Those loungers look the biz nice and thick and supportive. Watch the Germans though in Europe we have a joke they race down in the middle of the night putting towels on the beds to occupy them lol.

Can't wait to read more! Your dismeet with Alison, jumpin jellyfish and more! Paula x

I wish I had gotten the biggest memory on this phone, hate deleting things but it was for the best with that horrible game.

Those loungers were the ultimate, couldn't believe how comfy they were. :cloud9:

I can't imagine getting that far in such a short time! I loved it at first too but feel no guilt at deleting it.

Loved the resort. Looking forward to getting back there in the next few years.

From what I understand the WL, AKL, GC, and Aulani have the same architect but I can't find that online for sure.

I definitely recommend Once Upon a Time. It takes all the known faery tale characters, gives them more of a back story, adds more current storyline, interconnects everybody, and adds drama and adventure all in one. I love it! Anxiously awaiting the season 3 premier.

Those loungers were so nice!

I played a LOT or I am sure I would not have gotten so far. I also regularly played Bejeweled before I downloaded it, so I was kind of already used to the game.

You had a lucky escape when you found White Water Snacks closed. We only ate there once and the food was at best very ordinary. A good place to get a quick light meal either to have there or to take back to the room is Hearthstone Lounge. Their Margarita Flatbread is to die for as is the Robusta Flatbread, but that contains meat. Still, maybe they could leave of the sausage.

It is so nice to see all the photos from Grand Californian.

WL, AKL and GC were all designed by Peter Dominick who sadly passed away from a heart attack while skying about 9 months before the Villas at the Grand Californian opened. Aulani was designed by a local firm of architects in Hawaii.

I couldn't handle it anymore  I was stuck on 93 or 94 for months. Games shouldn't stress you and this one certainly was stressing me.

I'm on level 65 and have been for a few weeks and its causing me undue anxiety. :scared: :rotfl2: I should delete it too.

I had the Hearthstone Lounge on my list but never made it there. Another for next time. I never have a problem when requesting meat left off something, I'll have to remember this. The flatbreads at the Mara are among my favorite things to eat at WDW.

I did stop in Whitewater Snacks one morning for a breakfast sandwich. It wasn't the best but it was tasty and very big.

Thanks for this info. For some reason I had in my mind that Joe Rohde was the connection to all of them. How sad that Peter Dominick never saw the GC in all it's glory.

Joe Rohde had huge amount of input at Animal Kingdom and also at Aulani.
