First Trip Surprises

What really surprised you on your first WDW trip?One thing that I was not expecting is the way that the parks stay open so long after closing.I was in Magic Kingdom my first night and at closing time,I immediately started walking to the exit expecting everything to be closed and locked-up.When I got to Main Street,the shops looked as crowded as during regular hours!People were shopping and milling arouind as if the park had never closed.It just amazed me how long parts of the parks stayed open after closing.What about you?

I really was surprised by the large numbers of people! I watched too much of the "planning" video and they just didn't show the crowds. It was managable -- just funny cause every restaurant was filled with large groups of loud talking people -- and I really didn't expect that!

I still had a wonderful time and am looking forward to going back in November!

well i have a 1st and second time...

the first time i was surprised at how HUGE cinderellas castle was!!! ( i was 5)... the 2nd time it was still big, but it shrunk since the last time i was there.... and it had shrunk a lot (ok... i had grown to be 6 feet tall, and it didnt have the HUGE perspective anymore!) **** but i still LOVED IT******

The Disney World highway system with signs to all of the parks and resorts amazed me. I had no idea how big it was going to be and then I totally understood the "World" part of the name.

I was surprised at all the rides! And you didn't have to pay for them or anything!!

It's not my first time impression but my daughter-in-law's. We stayed at Fort Wilderness Cabins and were driving over to Animal Kingdom. That's a fair distance. From the back seat came "I can't believe we're STILL at Disney World!" It took her a long time to get how big the place was. She said before the trip that she had a hard time realizing that Magic Kingdom was Disney World, Epcot was still Disney World, etc.

The shops are open for an hour after the rest of the park closes. So you can shop instead of standing in line waiting for the buses.

This is my sister in law's. Not having to take the luggage or do anything on vacation and just watching her face as I took her on these thrill rides.

Though I knew it was big, it is hard to grasp just how big 46+ square miles really is, especially when it is one big themed resort.
