FIRST TRIP REPORT on Canadian board Now with Pics!!!!

I enjoyed reading about your trip. We also drive to WDW. I'm a bit farther than you. My first trip with the kids back in 04 was similar to yours. 4 days of driving and 3 days at the parks and 1 day at Universal. We too had rain and it was way way too hot. We did get tired and I too thought we would be fine without breaks. Once we got there it was a different story. On our trip last year we went for longer and made sure to rest in the afternoon. I found the second time to be easier because we knew what to expect. We got Dream fast passes at Epcot, a nice bonus to the day. Our next trip will be at least 7 days and we will add the water parks. I'm sure your next trip will be great.:cheer2:

canadaman,
I was wondering since exit 47B which is for the Bridge to Canada is closed because I read that on that on Dave Hunter's Interstate 75 website, can you tell me if the exit they are using now is easy for getting to the bridge and if there are road signs going on I-75 North that say the new next for the Bridge to Canada?

Hope you don't mind me jumping in here.....I just took a trip across the border and the bridge exit 47B is still open.....there is a sign earlier telling you to exit at Southfield but unless you want to go PAST the bridge heading North, ignore that sign and head straight for 47B.

Oh that's great news. I remember reading on the Interstate 75 website that it was closed, so I guess it has not been updated because I was just on the site and it still says that.

I crossed in Sarnia, so that I wouldn't have to deal with that construction on the i 75 in detroit.

What a great mini TR Canadaman! I have enjoyed the whole thing and your photos are wonderful. Thanks for sharing your awesome trip with us.

More photos please??

Suz

Great trip report!! Thanks for including the pictures!!

Can't wait to read about AK.

Great trip report!

We'll be crossing at Sarnia too, but we're catching a flight in Detroit. We decided the price of the flight was worth it to have an extra 3 days in the world.

I've been once before and those afternoon breaks were what kept me alive! We'd hit the parks at opening, take a lunch break at 11-12 and then head back to the resort for a rest until dinner. After dinner we'd go back to the same park to catch a few more rides and watch the evening show. Unfortunately we always missed the afternoon parades using this method.

ANIMAL KINGDOM

The last day we were going to be at Disney world was the day we were going to Animal Kingdom. We weren't able to stay that long either. We wanted to be on the road soon after lunch.
When we got there we wanted to do the safari ride first. We figured that the animals would be more active early in the day before the day got to hot. The safari was really cool, we got to see lots of animals up close. Our truck even had to stop at one point to let 3 giraffes cross the road. After the safari we went on Kali river rapids. The wait times for both rides were quite short.
We kind of wanted to go on Everest, but the kids weren't quite sure about it. When we got up to it though we seen the stand-by line was 75 minutes and the fast-pass was already to mid-afternoon so we just skipped it. We rode on a few more things a decided it was time to eat and get on the road.
As much as we were sad that our first trip was coming to an end we really were looking forward to being able to rest in the car. Four solid days of walking had took it toll, especially on the boys.
We ate some lunch and got on the bus for All-star movies. We had already packed our car and checked out in the morning so we were all set to go. Our drive home went very well.

Next I will sum things up and write our overall thoughts on our first trip to the magic land. Also i will fill you in on our verrrrrry early plans for trip number 2.:cool1: :goodvibes :cool1:

Great trip report. Even though you were only able to spend 3 1/2 days at Disney, it sounds like all of you had a great time.:)

FINAL CONCLUSIONS

To put it as simply as possible "we loved our trip". I can not get disney out of my brain. I think either about the trip we had or planning a new trip every day. It is just such a magical place.
WE feel that our plan was pretty good. Especially since none of us had ever been there before. There are 2 things that could have made things much better. The first is we should have stayed longer. This just wasn't possible this year, we just didn't have enough holiday time. We could have flown but it was just to expensive. The second thing is that we needed more rest time. 4 straight full park days is just to much.
We are talking about the next trip already. it looks like it will be in 2010, and again in July. July is the only time we can both have extended holidays at the same time. Besides the heat didn't bother us to much. We have talked about trying a mod. resort but we really loved All-star movies and think we would just go back there. The money saved going to a value instead of a mod could be used on other disney things. We are going to stay for about 9 or 10 nights next time to. That will give us time to relax at the resort and not be so rushed.
Well i think that is it for now. Thank you to everyone for reading my mini trip report. Sorry that i couldn't make it like the big fancy ones on the other board, but i just don't have the time to do it.

Thanks for reading.

I have been lurking since you began your report.:wave2:
Don't apologize for anything. Your report was fantastic! I personally like 'em "short, sweet, and to the point".

Great TR Canadaman! You did a wonderful job and we all appreciate it. I know what you mean about how you can't stop thinking about the next trip even if it has to be a year or two away. I am doing the same thing!

Thanks again, Suz
