I have been to Disney lots of times, but never in the "summer." We always go Nov/Dec or Feb/Mar.
I decided to surpise my boys with a trip for Star Wars Weekend in June.
I just read another thread where the avg temp for June is 91!
Here in PA, the avg temp is 75. WHAT WAS I THINKING?!?
Are there lines you can wait in the shade? I absolutely cannot tolerate the heat.
I have finally conceded to my husband and will be taking my cane. I am truly nervous this time and don't know what my options will be. My dr will write me a note - he does that every time we go, but I have never used it. Stupid pride, I guess.
Also, can you carry a cane on an airplane? I don't want to check it.
Thanks for all info.

Yes, you can take a cane on the plane, but you will be required to stow it. In the case of an emergency, they wouldn't want it loose in the cabin. I usually put mine in the overhead bin, but I think they put it in a closet the first time I flew with it.
I highly recommend getting TourGuideMike (TGM). I really worried about our July trip in 2007, but with TGM, it really cut the waiting times down.

Hi and :welcome: to disABILITIES!

You might want to bring along a fancy parasol (decorative umbrella) and if you are in direct sunlight use that as a portable shade tree.

If you click on where it says "disABILTIES" at the top of this page it will take you to the Index. One of the top items is the "disABILTIES FAQ" which will gives lots of useful information. You might start with Post #6 and then Post #3.

Or, if you want an easier route, click on the link in my signature.

Ask your doctor about a cooling vest. I have one and it is very helpful for the heat.

I have a cooling vest. It does work wonders, doesn't it?
I jsut don't know how long it will stay cool in that kind of heat!
Even in the fridge overnight, it can only retain so much coolness, know what I mean?

Also get one of those kooling fans with mister and the wetable neck scarf. there are tons of places as I am sure you know that are AC and there are a couple of icy misting stations. The parasol is a good idea.
I use a scooter and I have a fringed canopy on it, looks really kool. that helps me alot. You might try to avoid the hottest parts of the day and go early and again in the evening.

My vest doesn't have inserts. It's like a gel or something that puffs up when it gets wet.
I kinda like the parasol - very Mary Poppins-esque....
