Talked me right into itWe have never seen a RD ceremony, so it will be fun!
I will second the RD recommendation... YOu get so much done! And if the characters are out - you get their undivided attention, because no one else is there.
D~
If I get busy and forget to write anything before you take off for WDW, have a great time!!!!I can't wait to hear all about it when you get back!
oh....and you will really like Captain Cook's. I never got tired of it and the adult grilled cheese is really good![]()
You trip looks great! We will be there Feb. 5-9 staying at AKL *fingers crossed for light crowds!!!*

i also vote for rope drop. If you haven't seen it do it.
That pretty much goes for anything Disney. If you haven't done/seen it once try it!
I thought I asked somewhere about TV channels and was told we didn't get local channels in the room? Now I see on a Superbowl thread that they are saying to just watch it in your room. That would be so great for DH. He is not a people person and would NEVER watch it in the lounge without me. I really want to hit up MK that night. So this will work great! Anyone know if we get NBC in the room?
Tikiman says "So the latest on the pool is that it is scheduled to be closed for phase 1 of the refurbishment (1/20-2/10) if they do not finish by then it will be closed 2/13-2/27. The work is to the volcano itself (being theme painted)now scheduled to start on the 1/30. The pool will be closed for this work to be done."
I am crying right now at work and my boss is looking at me like I'm crazy. I was told that this would not affect the pool. That the slide might be closed for a couple hours one day. I just don't know what to do. We are 11 days away. Can I still change resorts at this late a date? I am not paid off fully and it wasn't a package deal. I know I will probably have to grab my luggage since my ME tags say Poly.
AAARRRGGGGHHHH!
I am so sorry to hear that. Disney should alert people when a main feature like that is going to be closed. If the pool and slide are that important to you, I would call and see what else might be available.
Sometimes when a pool is closed, they allow that resort's guests to use a pool at another resort. My guess is they might give you access to the GF pool.
That would be fine, except GF pool is being refurbed too. So all 3 monorail resorts are crammed into the Contemp pool? Not cool. Don't you think they could've staggered them a little? Oh, I don't know what to do.....
It will probably be too cool to swim much anyway, and it might make the beach less crowded at times at the Poly. I will never get another chance to stay there.

TikimanPages.com is the "unofficial Polynesian resort page". He has lots and lots of contacts there and has been keeping us up to date on everything Poly.
I'm gonna stick it out. Planning on calling them tonight and requesting a room in Tokelau. That way we would be far enough away from the pool so we don't see construction out our balcony, but centralized enough for an easy walk to the GCH for meals/transport. Hey, who knows, maybe if I complain about it enough I will get upgraded
I'm not gonna let it scare me away from my dream resort. Maybe if I had an older child that would really spend lots of time in the pool. But maybe this is a good thing. It might keep the crowds away from my resort.
Gonna give them a call right now.....will let you know.
Well that CM was completely useless. He didn't even know that they had longhouses at the Polynesian. He asked what section of the resort and I said I wanted the Tokelau longhouse. He said "What is a longhouse? What section is that in?" I said "Ummm....really?" then I explained. "The rooms are all in seperate buildings called longhouses. The longhouse I want is the Tokelau." Then I had to spell it for him. Geez! I should've asked for a different CM or just hung up and tried again
Anyway.... surprisingly my information filled friend didn't show anything in his computer about anything happening to the Poly pool. I just don't know what to think. Disney doesn't have anything on their website, but I can't find anything about resort rehabs, just parks. Where do they list reosrt rehabs? I have seen this info on lots and lots of sites. AllEars, Mouseplanet, undercovertourist, tikimanpages, and wdwinfo. Allears and wdwinfo used to list it, but now it is gone. Tikiman just got an update today, so maybe it will show in "the system" tomorrow. I guess I will call again just before we leave. Anyway, I think I got my building request in. Guess we will see when we get thereHe didn't leave me feeling all warm and fuzzy like the other ones I have talked to.
