First trip....Feb 2012....Polynesian....Yay!

The Poly is beautiful, everything I had dreamed of! We went to AK today. Actually I have to say I was a little disappointed in it. We left pretty early and had a good afternoon in the pool and a yummy dinner at Kona. We have watched Wishes from our deck and the beach here both nights so far. Heading to the MK tomorrow :)

By the way....the pool slide is open so far. There is scafolding up and the waterfall feature isn't on, but other than that, it is fine. We got my request for Tokelau and we are on the quiet side (TTC side). Love it!

I have been a bad DISer, I keep forgetting to take pictures of my food. Just not something I normally do. I will try to be better :)

Thank you everyone for all your advice. I feel like a pro here!

So glad your requests were granted! :goodvibes I do have to ask, why the disappointment in AK? We absolutely love it!!!

Can't wait to hear all about your trip!!!! popcorn::

Glad you made it ok and are having fun. The Poly is so amazing:cloud9:

I wonder too about AK. I love that park, maybe even my favorite! To me it's the least "theme parky" of all and really feels like a different world .

Don't feel bad not taking photos of the food. Sometimes wrestling around with a camera takes away from enjoying the trip. Us Disers can find photos of every dish ever if we searched the boards anyway.

Have a spectacular time!
ps. what's your hubby think so far?

Still having a great time. My parents are leaving us today. We have breakfast ADR at Kona. Gonna get me some tonga toast this morning :)

I will respond to each of you later. But just quickly, AK felt like any other zoo to me. Nothing special and the layout was horrible. I constantly felt like I was backtracking everywhere. And my little one didn't feel good, which puts a damper on any outing.

Hubby is enjoying it. We had dinner at Whispering Canyon last night and he said "Ok, if I am forced to come to Disney again, I want to stay here :)

I really want to add a meal at Whispering Canyon... I wonder if I should add it for our arrival night?

Okay, so you have to go back to WDW with me in March so I can show you how to do AK the right way. :lmao: It's so far from a zoo. ;) AK is actually "tenderly" called "Nahtazu" (get it? Not a Zoo. Yeah, it's horrible. :lmao:)

Sorry your little one was feeling bad. :guilty: But I strongly claim (and everyone is fine to disagree with me, I'm not stating fact, just my opinion), anyway, I strongly claim that AK is an experience. Did you ride Kilamanjaro Safaris? Did you have a nice "two week" trip? I think KS kind of sets the mood for AK, but that's just my opinion. :thumbsup2 It's definitely a must do park for us. So I am looking forward to hearing about your experience, so I can see the other side of the fence.

I do agree the layout is HORRID! :sad2: I constantly felt lost on my first trip or two. And there's still so much I haven't seen, because I just can't always find stuff there (ie Mahajara Jungle Trek). And no matter the actual weather, it feels at least 30 degrees hotter at AK than any other area at WDW ... which is not good when the temp is in triple digits. :scared:

I hope you enjoy Tonga Toast! So jealous! I'm anxiously waiting to hear all the details about your trip (but obviously not wanting your trip to end anytime soon). :goodvibes Hope your little one is feeling better!

D, you should totally do it. Well, wait. Do you have an ADR that night already? :confused3 WCC is on my "must eat" list ... but I just can never find a way to work it in. :sad2: Hmmm .... :scratchin Wonder if I can ... I'll get back to you. :rolleyes1

We're eating at WC in April and I'm looking forward to it ! :goodvibes

OMG ... AK is our favorite park ! I could go there every day. Sorry your little one wasn't feeling well. I'm sure that could have made it not so pleasant. :sad2:

Hope the rest of your stay is pleasant ! :thumbsup2

Sorry AK didn't appeal -- it takes getting used to the park (it's actually our favorite over the Studios).

Glad you are still enjoying yourself. Can't wait to hear all about it.

I am so happy for you that everything is just like you dreamed it would be - as it should. Have a wonderful, wonderful time and enjoy every minute of it.

D~

We did D~. We had an incredible time!

Suzi, so glad you are loving Poly and got the longhouse you wanted. :goodvibes

I didn't really know which longhouse to request, just looked at the map and thought Tokelau was pretty central. It turned out to be the perfect location!

Well, like I said in the other post, I just really didn't like the layout and felt really lost all the time. It was very hot and humid and our first day after traveling, so it was bound to be a little miserable. We didn't get to see any of the shows either, because they were the only thing with lines and the first day I just didn't want to manage lines.

Glad you made it ok and are having fun. The Poly is so amazing:cloud9:

I'm not gonna say hubby "loved" it, but I can say he "liked" it. I don't think he wants to immediately plan another trip, but he did say if he was forced to go back he wanted to stay at Wilderness Lodge. Okay, fine with me. Maybe I will have to force him :)

YAY!!!! I am so excited for your THERE!!!!
relax breath and enjoy!!!

Thats exactly what we did Mo. We relaxed. Didn't push anything on them, just went with the flow. There are lots of things we missed out on, but we will be back someday. We'll hit them then.

I really want to add a meal at Whispering Canyon... I wonder if I should add it for our arrival night?

D~

Whispering was alright. Yummy food, I was just disappointed in how they served it. All the adults got the Canyon Skillett which is all you can eat. I have seen pics of it and each person got their own. Well not with us. We had one skillet and we all had to share. I hated it because the only thing I like was the pulled pork and beans, so I had to keep my portions small so there was enough for everyone else. Not what I wanted for an all you can eat thing for $30 pp. Maybe if the waitress stood right over you and refilled the portions that went fast. Oh well, the atmosphere was great and what I ate was yummy. Maybe will try a different place there next time. Roaring Forks looks good for lunch and maybe we can fit in Artists Point sometime too.

I think that was it Liddy. I just always felt lost. I'm sure it will be better the next time around. It was hot, the first full day, and confusing. We did do KS first thing. The safari was great. We had an excellent driver and DS almost tore my leg off when the bridge "fell in". It was funny.

I actually never ordered the Tonga Toast. I tried it when my mom ordered it at Capt Cooks, then again in Kona when DH ordered it. Gotta say, I would take the Pineapple Macadamia Pancakes over that ANYDAY! OMG those were heaven! :cloud9: The Tonga Toast was just too dry and too sweet. IMHO

I hope your WC experience is a good one. It is a fun place to be sure, just wasn't impressed with the way they served all of us one skillet. I thought we were all supposed to get our own skillet.

Thanks Kathy. I will try to figure out how to do a TR one of these days. First I have to get my photopass straightened out and order the CD. Then I will get going on my report...or try to. I'm a little scared about that. :scared1:

Sorry you had to come home... Super happy you had a wonderful trip... I can't wait to hear all about it!

And I saw in my PTR that you saw one of my bags - that totally made my day!! I love it when people spy my bags in the parks and tell me about it - totally COOL!!! I don't know of anyone that purchased a bag from me that is going to be there when I am there - so I have a feeling that the only bags I am going to spy are my own. LOL

Anyways... Glad to have you home - can't wait to see pics from your trip. Are you going to do a TR?

D~

Happy to hear you're enjoying your trip and the Poly! We requested the same longhouse! :goodvibes

I want to D~. Just don't really know how to go about it. I will try to figure it out when I have some spare time. I have all my pictures uploaded and I have my Photopass CD on its way. So I can at least get it started and work on introductions and traveling day. I'm not sure I know how to do a link to it here. I will read up on it and try to work it out.

Have you stayed there before? At the Poly or at Tokelau? It was so great. The perfect location. Halfway between the GCH and TTC. Very quiet and peaceful. And on the second and third floors they had a little sitting area that worked great for the early risers of our group to go out and read without waking everyone else up. I don't know if the other longhouses have that, but we thought it was great. And the little beach over on the TTC side was the best because no one else ever went there. You can't hear the Wishes music from it like the main beach, but we felt like it was our own private beach because everytime we went there we were alone.

Have a great trip! :)
