Planning a trip November 20th-24th. I am a little worried though as it's looking like I will be on my own. I think I will miss the fun that having another person brings, BUT I will get to do all the things I want to do and at my pace so .. it has it's upside too.

Any vets got some advice? I trying to make it as cheap as possible too .. under $2000 preferably. Can one have a blast at Disney under $2000?

come do it in Oct :rolleyes1 and yes you can have sooo much fun for alot less!

Book a value, get the Military discount at Shades of Green, or just go it on your own. Buy tix from the Military and then go to the parks daily. Enjoy the alone time OR, meet up with someone here going at the same time as you. Its fun.

Maybe its me who is confused Ang. I read veteran as in military. . .maybe I should quit posting at night before bed. . .lol

You can totally do Disney solo for under $2000!!!!
Value resort all the way - Pop is a GREAT place!
Don't rent a car - use Disney transportation.
Pack some snacks in your suitcase - are you going during Free Dining? BONUS!
Eat only 1 decent meal a day and do it late in the day to count as lunch and dinner.....

But most of all, have fun. Enjoy at your own pace. Go do something you couldn't get someone else to do with you! And with the DIS - you never really go alone!:dance3:

Yes, I should have been more clear in my post. Disney Vets was the intended.

Pop is where I am looking currently. I need to start making reservations huh ..

One thing I learned from my trip to Islands of Adventure in June is pack stuff! I will be bringing a backpack with a few water bottles. That is allowed in Disney parks right? I am also planning on eating only one big meal each day. That's how I eat now, and with the extra saving daily I can buy a few more trinkets along the way, and maybe do a bit more holiday shopping too ..

I am a 100% newb here. I like to think of myself as a semi-bright crayon or sharp tack if you will, but I feel like I am running face first into a whole new world 100% un-prepared. The other parts of me say that even if that is the case, I am not going to conquer the world of Disney ... I am going to have fun in a place I have always wanted to visit. I am going to relax, enjoy, and to cast away my day-to-day worries.

If I don't get to ride one ride .. or miss a Fireworks display etc, in the end I will be at Disney and having a blast.

If you are planning on staying at PoP and only plan to eat one big meal a day you will be fine. PoP is an awesome resort, my favorite of all the value resorts. There have been times when the budget was tight but we had the Disney bug and needed a fix and have did Disney on way less than $2000 . Of course for us it is easy because we keep annual passes, but lets say you spend $400 of your budget on a ticket, $500 on your room (and if you are going at a certain time the counter service dining plan is free with your value room) You can eat cheaply at counter services for between $8-$12 depending on where you eat and if you are careful you can eat sit downs at a reasonable price $20. Yes, you can take drink and food into the park:) You should splurge on a Dole Whip Float (stand near the Swiss Family Tree House) and if you are in the mood for something sweet the Bakery on Main Street has HUGE cinnamon buns(way too big for one person , imo) for $2.99. Remember also that you can ask for a glass of ice water at all counter service stations, free of charge. MK water leaves a bit to be desired but in a pinch it will do :)
Pizza Planet has a nice pizza salad combo that is very filling. Be sure to pick up a park map in each park, and the dining options will show if they are lower cost or more expensive thru $-$$$.
If you head to Down Town Disney(DTD) and go to the House of Blues(HOB) you can eat at a sit down for a VERY reasonable price and I am not sure if it still available but there was a coupon at restaurant dot com for $2 for a $25 coupon for HOB.
Enjoy yourself, you have more than enough money as a solo traveler to have a great time as long as you are not planning on a $40 sit down meal at every meal time.

I did a solo trip last year.
It's great to be able to just do what you want when you want.

I think QSDP is the way to go since you can also want when you want and there is lots of good food as long as you look for it.
I also do not like eating alone in Disney restaurants unless they have bar area, but that's me

First forget about free dinning, the room only discount is a better deal with only one person in most cases.
(I do not think you can get it for your dates anyway)
Book that and add your tickets and dinning.

With QSDP dinning at the POP it would be $800.
For about 200 more you could stay at the CSR with QSDP- I think it is much nicer for the $200.

This includes the 5 day base ticket. Add $50 or so for the park hopper.

I am doing POP for my next trip because CSR is not available.
CSR is more adult oriented IMO since it is a convention hotel.
You also get a refrigerator in the room at the CSR.

If you are doing a value POP is the best bet since it has been refurbished and has its own buses.

That leaves you $1000+ for everything else.
Also like others said don't rent a car unless you really need to.
The magic express really works well.

I do it solo most years and definately have done it for under $2,000.00; and that is at a mod and I stay for eight days. So you should have no problem at all.

Since you are almost paying for double occupancy, a good room discount will do you good. I got the monster pin code this year at POR and saved me a ton of money.

Reservation has been made at the Pop, inclusive of park tickets and hopper. That leaves me with buying the plane tickets, and a little spending money. I went through Dreams Unlimited and was happy with the prices I got on the stuff. I am excited to go, I should have a fairly decent wad saved up for the trip .. and that will be NIOCE!

And the memories will be more priceless than any trinket money could buy! You will have a blast !!!!

My 4-night/5 day stay at Pop in late Nov., includes free Quick Service. For $48, I'm upgrading to the reg. Dining Plan. My pkg. thru Dreams is $656, plus airfare of $300. I'm doing a Candlelight Processional meal using 2TS credits. So my trip is around $1K; it's "do-able"! Good luck & have fun!
