First timer question about autographs

We will be sailing on the Dream in December. I have read that you can no longer drop items off at guest services to be autographed. With that in mind, how do Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, and the rest of the gang autograph things? Their costumes don't exactly allow for pen holding/signing. I guess I'm questioning if it's worth buying an autograph book/photo mat for just the princesses, if they're the only ones who have the ability to write.

They (Mickey, Minnie, etc. - the non-face characters) sign autograph books in the parks all the time. If someone is friends with those characters they know how to autograph.

Just to make sure I'm understanding correctly... We will still get the non-face characters' autographs, but the autographs will come from a person standing beside them or "behind the scenes"?

We usually bring an over-sized pen which is easier for the costumed characters to hold. The one with multi-colour ink would works well too.

No. The characters do their own autographs. Just like in the park.

The characters are the ones signing it, not their handlers.

Do all the ships no longer allow items to be dropped off at guest services for autographs?

Do they sell autograph books on board? We are on the dream.
Yes. One note, however - the shops onboard will not be open until your ship departs. If you run into any characters before then, you may want to have a book already in hand before boarding.

As noted above, some characters have big hands so the oversized pens or sharpies (clicker ones are good) work best.

We always bring markers in fun, bright colors (not too thick, not too thin) so it's easier for the characters to sign and also it makes for a colorful autograph book!
