I have begun planning our first trip in March 2012. Can't wait til rates are out, because that is when the real planning begins. However, I spoke with a friend of ours that just came back from a few days there and they suggested that we skip US and and just stick with IOA. Having never been there I feel like I might miss out on something. Their reasoning was that it was quite a bit run down and the employees working there seemed resentful that the were not at IOA. What are your thoughts please....

I don't think the Studios are run down and I've never come across a "resentful" TM at either park. That doesn't make sense.

Anyway...why don't you check out www.universalorlando.com and see what attractions the Studios offers and decide for yourself if it would be worth it to go. Also...check YouTube for ride videos for both parks. That might help you decide.

what metro west said..........:thumbsup2

i have gone yearly to the darkside and never experienced what your friends said.
i'm not saying homies don't see negative things, but i can't imagine staying away from a park due to heresay.

somedays i have to flip a coin to see which park i go to first.
i love them both.

What Metro and mac said.

Major ditto...

Never seen a 'resentful' TM.. Not saying they aren't around, everyone has a bad day now and again, but my personal opinion is that it wouldn't be a Universal visit if I didn't stop at the Studios. In the past, I've picked the Studios over IOA when I only had a day visit. If you've never been there, it's definitely worth trying once. Plus, the park hopper tickets are so cheap! I love it :hippie:

I agree with all of the above. Depending on what you're interested in there are some cases where Universal Studios is actually better. I've spent many a day at that park alone. I don't think you'll get the whole experience without going to both parks. Definitely get the two park pass and see as much as you can of both.

We couldn't decide which park to do, so we did the only reasonable thing.

We decided to go for two days, and do the two parks on two days.
