We (DH, me, DD10 and DD8) are staying at VWL for the first time in November--3 nights in a Studio. :yay:

These first few days (before Tkg week) are our park days before the crowds come in, but I'm wondering if there are things we should definitely try to do while we're in that location--Fort Wilderness, maybe? What else?

Any advice about a room request would be great, too!!

TIA!

There are lots of activities at VWL for everyone. There's a tour of the lodge. Bike path to Ft. Wilderness. Children's activities. Take the boat to Ft. Wilderness for one of the movie nights at the campfire(roast marshmallows not provided) with Chip n Dale.

I like rooms that give me a view of the Springs pool. If you get that view you can also see the lake ( if high enough above the tree line).

It will be decorated for Christmas by then - the best decorations in WDW IMHO. Get a glass of wine or a hot chocolate sit by the fireplace in the lobby and people watch.

As mentioned there is a lot within close proximity of VWL that you can do for free or very inexpensively. We even sat on the boat going to CR & FW through several stops just for the boat ride. It wasn't crowded, the weather was nice and the lake was calm so we figured what the heck.

It is nice to just resort hop in the area as well. The Poly is a great place to take a walk and Grand Floridian is nice if the Gingerbread house is setup.

Enjoy yourself.

~rent bikes at FW. The campers really go all out decorating their sites for the holidays it really is great to see. You can rent bikes at the dock at WL ride over and back.

~If you can swing it $$$ rent a pontoon boat at WL, we got a picnic lunch at Roaring Fork and went out for an hour. It was one of the best days of our whole trip cruising Bay Lake and all the way over to MK. We loved it.

We were in 4543 last November the week before T'giving - it was lovely! We had a lake view and it was very quiet. We were far enough down the hall that we didn't hear a lot of pool noise from the quiet pool (not that there was a lot of noise given the cool weather), but we were also not so far that we felt like the walk to the elevator was long. We also never heard the dreaded dumpster pickup noise. ;)

Do take an hour to do the lobby tour of WL!
