I bought direct last month, and yesterday I got a survey about why I didn't purchase at Riviera or Aulani. Each resort had it's own survey page. The canned reasons for Riviera included the resale restriction as one of the reasons for not purchasing, but also had the resort location, transportation options, theme, etc. I gave my honest feedback that while I really loved the opulence of the Riviera, the location and Skyliner transportation completely eliminated it from consideration. My husband got stuck high up on a gondola for 6 hours as a child and will never, ever get on one again. We didn't pick Aulani because the travel time to Hawaii takes away from our limited vacation time.

There were lots of questions about why we bought direct vs. resale, too. They asked which perks we liked the best. I chose the discounted passes, exclusive member areas, special events, and the restaurant and shop discounts as my top picks.

I thought this was interesting, as there have been a lot of discussions about Disney's future plans for Riviera with regard to resale, and possible changes to perks.

Congratulations!
I've never received a survey, but I understand your reasons. (Does your husband have issues with anything else that is elevated)??
So which resort did you pick as your DVC Home ??

Unfortunately, I don't see how Walt Disney can change the resale restrictions for Riviera unless they get the current owners to give back their contracts, rip them up and rewrite them. As an owner I would be happy to give the contract back and have the resale restriction changed, but I don't think it will happen. We bought before the actual resort opened, and I am very disappointed by the lobby, the eateries available, and the surrounding grounds. The view is straight to the Caribbean Beach resort on one side and a back road on the other. The Riviera was touted as the "Grand Floridian" of Epcot, it is not. The inside is luxurious, but boring, and not very Disney. I regret buying here.

When we bought RIV, our contracts included the restrictions as well as the language that they can be removed, added back in, etc.

We agreed to giving DVD the right to do what they wanted so they do not need to get approval at all.

Thanks :) Well that makes me somewhat more hopeful! At least if the resale restrictions weren't there we could live with the other things.

That’s horrible. I like the eateries, the art, and the feel of the Riv, but the lobby is too small. I also love the Skyliner, and I thought I’d hate it. One of my favorite rides and it doesn’t require a park reservation or a fast pass!

Yes, my husband cannot handle heights outside, so Expedition Everest is a no-go, but Space Mountain and and the other indoor roller coasters are fine.

We picked the Poly as our home resort. It was such a hard decision, because all of the resorts are wonderful. We figured we will mostly stay in studios, with the occasional one bedroom. We liked the size of the Poly studios and the fact that they can sleep 5. The bathroom set up was a nice perk, too. The ultimate deciding point for us is where we wanted to stay - and Poly is at the top of our favorites list.

We are watching Poly contracts in the resale market right now while we move some things (money lol) around in preparation of finding the "right" contract. May I ask what you paid directly through Disney?

We got the summer incentive. It was definitely a lot more than resale. We wanted to do our first contract direct. We had two week long trips booked and paid for that we were able to swap out our deluxe reservations for points, so that made it feel a bit better, especially with one of them being a Spring Break trip.
