Well, I figure I will finally post what has been keeping me away from the DIS for the last month (since I finally put my pics on the computer and photobucket

)
I have many hobbies, one of which I started doing quite a bit last year.....this year has been a little slow with it, until recently. I have had a cake project every weekend except one since the end of September.....man, it has been very time consuming, but a lot of fun!
First was my niece's tenth birthday, she wanted chevron, but did not want fondant... (Do you know how hard it is to do that?!) Well, she ended up with a little fondant
The next weekend we went to another birthday party, but I did not make the cake. It was nice to just relax for a bit and let the kids play....they had a blast! (sorry, I can't find those pics.....

)
Moving on....
Next up was one of my very good friend's daughter's first birthday. Toni was planning on cooking a big southern meal on Sunday, but Saturday we went to a family fun day event at her husband's work. It was awesome, everything was free and we had so much fun!!!!

Our second children.....they are a mess!
So Sunday came around and it was cake time again. This is not very traditional for a little girl, but her name is Autumn so it fit!
This weekend's cake comes with a story!!
My dear sweet

youngest child decided to help me out this week. I had found an awesome dump truck cake online that I just had to try. It looked so cool and came with an online tutorial which was even better! So I watched the video, figured I could do it, came home early on Tuesday to work on it. Several pieces of fondant needed to sit out and dry for a few days so they would be stiff enough for the sides of the truck and the (basket) part of the dump truck. I spent about three hours measuring, rolling, cutting....all the while Evil, ahem, I mean Evie was "helping" me...aka eating every bit she could get ahold of. (my kids love fondant, I mean, most people peel it off and throw it away.....

) So I finished up and put the cookie sheet of fondant pieces on some cake boxes on the back of the counter. At this point I had told her not to mess with any of it, oh, about 20 times.... Well, guess what happened.....really, I'm not good with suspense, it doesn't take a rocket scientist!!!!!

I came home from a horrible day at work on Wednesday to find all of that work destroyed! (by the mouth of a three year old.....

) Well, after I locked myself in my room for about a half an hour

I got over it......I guess it is just a cake after all.
Oh yeah, by the way, out of aaaallllllllllllllll of these cakes that I have been working on, this is the ONLY one that I am being paid for!!!!!!!

Okay, sorta over it.........
So, here is the consolation cake...I had to come up with something last minute as the party is today, but I think it will do. As soon as I finish up here I am going to go find some little construction vehicles to put on it......wish me luck!
Next weekend is my sister in law's birthday. She wants a pumpkin cake. I made one a few years ago for a friend and it was pretty easy so it should look something like this
So, there it is. My excuse. Now I have to go shopping and on to yet another birthday party! Hope you enjoy the pics!
