First time I am going to run out of towels

I'd wash them/put them in the dryer if you need them faster. Most showers have that line to pull across for extra drying space too. You can easily fit 2-3 towels on it that will dry throughout the day while you're at the parks.
Not in the one bedroom villas with a separate shower and tub.

I am very happy I don't have those types of concerns.

Same.

Though I replace that concern with concerns about the gross chemicals in lysol, and the idea of wiping out a dryer with a lysol wipe makes me ill. As ill as my mom made me by her incessant use of lysol spray when cleaning!

We stay in two bedrooms. I had no idea! Thanks! You learn something new everyday 😂

It's only studios that don't have washers/dryers in the room. But you can use the laundry rooms if you're in a studio.

The diverse opinions here truly show the difference between owning and “owning” .

If you truly owned the villa, you would not worry about folks putting poop diapers in the machines. But, you share it with thousands of others.

Millions of people around the world use laundromats every day and manage to survive. I truly don’t understand the worry over cleanliness of the washer dryer. The dryer operates at a high enough heat, that worries of germs are completely unfounded. The washer continuously runs through cycles involving soap and water—two things that are extremely effective at killing germs.

Thank you for your advice.
I’m not sure all dryers run hot enough to kill germs. I’m certain dryers do not clean other ingredients found on swimsuits, towels, sneakers, and the like.
Our home dryer has an “anti bacterial” setting which leads me to believe the normal setting does not do the job. Regardless of germs, a dryer does not *clean* anything. I still don’t want sterilized poop in my dryer.
Regardless, I choose to not use the washer/dryer in the villas because quite frankly, I think it’s gross.
YMMV.

That’s why they make vanilla and chocolate.

Just a personal anecdote on this subject. We always request extra towels even in 1 bedrooms in addition to washing and drying them ourselves. Though there is supposed to be a fee for extra towels, we have yet to be charged for them on any of our recent stays. Additionally, since housekeeping has to do trash/enter your room every day now, they often take the dirty towels I usually have waiting to be washed and just give us fresh towels. We don't rely on this at all and it did not occur every day but it did occur most days of our last 4 stays. Even if you are charged for the extra towels, $6 is well worth it in my opinion.

I'm dying to know how poop diapers are ending up in laundry machines at Disney. (and I was a cloth diaperer, so I know a think or two about washing things that have had poop on them, you definitely don't put the poop and all right in...)

Agree. Much, much, much more likely to find germs/harmful bacteria on light switches, door knobs, telephones, handrails and TV remotes.

We all have our little eccentricities, but I'm glad fear of germs isn't one of mine.

Better concern if you're going to have one is the bed and bedding IMO. Better bring your own bed, bedding and pillows and wear gloves for everything you touch in the room or the parks.

Washers and dryers at least have the cleaning aspect to them.

I usually go solo in a studio or a 1 bedroom. Next week I'm in a 1 bedroom but with four people. With twice-daily showers I am thinking we're going to run out of towels fast. Short of staying home and doing the laundry, can we request extra towels, or is that an additional charge? I always hang mine up, but I four towels and one bathroom--I think we'll be draping towels over doors throughout the house.
I agree 4 towels for 4 people is a bit slim. I use 2 myself, one just for my hair. I also agree with one of the other posters, just request an extra towel pack and then use the washer/dryer. No need to stay home and watch the laundry. Toss a load in on your way out of the villa and put it in the dryer when you get home. Or toss in a load before bed, and put them in the dryer in the morning. I hope it works out for you.

Some folks just have a more intense fear of germs. At work we were temporarily relocated due to renovations in our office, so we didn't have a kitchen. There was a kitchen available 4 floors up. First day I went to fill the kettle and filled it from the bathroom sink (private staff bathroom).
Horrors! "You filled the kettle with water from the bathroom????"
I replied "Yes, but not from the toilet. By the way where do you brush your teeth?".
From that point on any time I wanted the kettle filled, I only need to pick it up, and someone would take it from me and go to the kitchen 4 floors up. :rolleyes1Okay then, that worked out great for me.

When I was a kid, we never drank "bathroom" water. We had a well and most of the faucets were off the softened water. We had a single faucet in the kitchen that was not softened water and it tasted so much better.

Want to have a little fun. Bring a UV flashlight with you and look around a darkened hotel room with it.

Let the fun begin:jester:

Imagine the number of poop and pee accidents..and other stuff... that have happened on those room mattresses (and couches), which are never ever cleaned...and the bathtubs (i am sure they aren't getting sanitized between guests). And people are worried about using the dryers?????????

Nah... sheets are washed between guests (so they say).
And we do wipe most things down with anti-bacterial wipes in hotels, or do not touch things with bare hands.

Trust me. I’m betting I stay in hotels more than anyone here on the Dis.
