First time going since DVC, bought resale- Q

We’ve been stuck in line behind DVC-ND card holders @ both member lounge & last EP moonlight magic who were berating the CMs that they “always get” X, Y & Z
I’m confused on the Moonlight Magic as those are tickets that are provided in advance when the website verifies you are eligible for membership extras

Doesn’t stop DVC members from getting in line, pleading their case for MM

Can’t say I blame them for trying.

IMO an in-person standby system at the specific park would be beneficial. The sort where people can cancel, outright or just a person or two on their reservation. If anything, it would funnel them into a specific line vs the regular ones

No it certainly doesn't stop them you are correct but a lot of blue card members (myself included) can't even get in as Moonlight Magic it is a limited event.

Maybe it is just me wondering why people think they are so entitled that they can treat people that way knowing full well they are not eligible for the perks.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with resale imo as you are saving money and getting the same accommodations.
If that is not enough one can certainly add-on in the future to have the opportunity to enter the Moonlight Magic lottery system to possibly go to one of these events.

Thank you for confirming this. The good news is that I'm not as technologically challenged as I thought. The bad news is that this seems like a ridiculous amount of effort. I'd be even more annoyed if I bought direct!
I don't think using Apple Wallet to store the info is a ridiculous amount of effort, but it would be more convenient if the AP and DVC designations were on the front of the card. Even our small San Antonio Zoo uses aplle wallet for their annual passes, and we have to show them for any in zoo discounts. Better than the old days of having to whip out both the card AND your ID.

When I was in the store at POR in March, the CM insisted on scanning the QR code in the Digital Wallet. I thought maybe this would close any loopholes but I was back in April and they weren’t doing it.

We are resale and have some direct points at VGF, but not enough to have the blue card. Our first trip as members some times we were asked if we were dvc members and I’d say yes, but just resale. This trip I was planning on just saying no to avoid confusion, but I only got asked if I had any discounts to which I said no.

I do feel kind of silly saying no to are you DVC members while wearing my Welcome Home, I love DVC tshirts🤷🏼‍♀️ or other DVC apparel. Which I own, because I do love my DVC🥰

I have found that most CM's asked me if I had any discounts rather than are you DVC like in year's past. So, maybe they are supposed to do that vs "Are you an AP holder or are you DVC"?

I know that next month when I go I will be using my AP since they have raised it to 30% for merchandise, 20% for at least some, if not all TS meals, and 20% at some of the Epcot kitchens. I have not read anything they will be doing the same for DVC...which is good for anyone who is AP but not DVC Y

I must be in the minority here. I bought resale and benefited from a lower price. When they ask if I am eligible for a discount I say no - because I know I am not. I just assumed that is what everyone did. (Not a dig towards people that say yes, I just never thought to do so.)

Wouldn't it be great if Disney just automatically deducted the appropriate discounts from your bill instead of playing 20 questions? How many times have I paid for dinner and forgot to ask for my AP discount? Too many. When I got my bill at the end of the trip, they could have easily just deducted my discount. In the end, perks like this are really just sales tools. Actually executing who gets discounts and for how much isn't really a thing. It's really all about instilling fear of "missing out" on a perk in the sales office. You need some sizzle to sell with the steak, especially when the "steak" can be had for a big discount on the resale market.

I am sure what you saved on resale is more than the discounts. I would do the same too. We have never been asked if we are DVC, we have been asked do you qualify for any discounts.

We have only been on one trip as DVC members in October 2022. (Next trip is 11 days away). We were constantly asked if we were “DVC members or Annual Passholders” It was frustrating to answer them in a way that wasn’t cheating the system, but we were DVC members dang it! So we didn’t want to say “no” to that question. We always answered “yes, we are DVC but not eligible for the discount.” It confused most of the CM’s.

The “are you eligible for any discounts” question is much preferable and a simple “no” would suffice.

The addonitis already hit and in April we added on direct and bought Annual passes. We already had the Disney Visa. So we are flush with discounts now.

When I've been asked if I was eligible discounts, I say Disney Visa. We weren't DVC members on our last trip to Disneyland. But pretty much every morning at breakfast at the hotel, we were asked if we had APs or if we were DVC members. So if the question is phrased like that in the future, I would say yes, DVC...because it's true.
