First Time DDP. Split check?

Apologies as I think it's quite likely this been addressed in other threads -- but I've searched and can't find an answer to this specific question.

We are a party of 3 (all "Disney" adults). We will all have the dining plan.

At an individual TS meal, can we use a DDP Credit to pay for 1-2 of the meals, but pay out of pocket for others? There could be times when my 13-year old might want to choose only an appetizer or even a kids meal (if not at a buffet). In that case I may choose to use credits for two of us, but pay for my daughter's meal out of pocket (saving that credit for use at another TS meal).

Is this allowed?

We did this with no issues. My son was happy with a kids meal. So we saved his credits and paid OOP for it. We always ordered extras at meals so his meal was just added to the portion we owed

Just let your server know which meals will be paid with dining credits and what you would like to pay out of pocket. You will receive two bills at the end - one for the DDP and one for the OOP items.
