We are trying to pack light but shoes are the heaviest items. We do not plan on eating at Palo. Do we need pool shoes and flip flops? Do we need sneakers? Do we have to have dress shoes if we are dressing casual for dinner? Can DH wear sneakers with his Kahkis and polo? Can you be barefoot on the deck from your room to the pool? Seams like I am going to have to have a seperate bag just for footwear.

I will be the first to say--I took WAY too many shoes last time..........think Imelda Marcos. Anyway--all I ended up wearing were 3 pairs. One pair of black dress shoes--every dinner, flip flops on board and to my excursions, and a pair of tennis shoes for embarking and debarking and ports where we walked a lot. Go light w/ shoes--I wore flip flops all day on the ship (except dinner).:hyper:

You should wear whatever you are comfortable with. Hubby and I have been on 4 cruises, you see all types of shoes or lack of. Going barefoot is fine, but do beware the decks are wooden and get VERY hot. I try to coordinate outfits for dinner, 3 causal, 1 dressy so that they work with the same 2 pair of shoes. I myself don't like tennis shoes so its walking sandals during the day, a pair of casual slid sandals for dinner and my dressy pair of heals for the 1 night. I don't pack flip flops or water shoes anymore, don't really need them.
Enjoy your cruise, we will be on the Wonder in 3 weeks. First cruise witht the kids!!

pack 2 pair of shoes! One pair of fancy sandles to wear at dinner and one pair of sandles you can walk in! I was barefoot the entire time I was on the boat except for dinnerand going into any of the dinning areas for lunch( except those on deck 9 by the pools...barefoot there also) Nobady once said anything to me. The first couple of days I would carry my sandles but gave that up when I realized no one would say anything. As for DH mine wore dress shoes for all dinners but I dought anyone would say a word to you if he wore sneakers(except at Palo and maybe tritons )

One more tip if you're going to Serenity Bay (adult beach on CC). The bottom of the ocean over there is mostly coral and can do a number on your feet. Either wear your flip flops in the water, or a pair of water shoes, but bare feet are very likely to get cut or at the least...very sore.

I wore sundresses to our rotation dinners and was able to just wear my nicer sandles each time.

For guys, this is an easy one. Two per person. (Two shoes, not two pairs!) Why make a simple thing complicated?;)

Unless you're going to stretch it (like wearing sandles for a dress-up dinner) we've always needed 3 pairs of shoes.

1 pair of casual shoes (the shoes you use the most for general getting around on the ship, at dinner, and walking at ports of call).

1 pair of dress shoes (for when you want to dress up for Palo and/or your first dinner at Tritian's/Lueare's), in my case I want to wear a suit, and need appropriate shoes for the suit.

1 pair to the beach. Now if all you are going to do is go to the beach or only swim in on the family beach, you could get away with just wearing your casual shoes on the side walk and take them off when you get to the sand, but if you are going to get in the water off the adult beach at CC, YOU MUST WEAR SOMETHING TO PROTECT YOUR FEET. The problem isn't coral (there isn't any coral off the adult beach); but there are several spineny sea urchins in the water. My wife found out about this the hard way on our first trip. Two weeks later and she still had spines comming out of the bottom of her feet.
