I've been scouring the boards for quite a while, taking notes, making plans... and then realized I haven't actually introduced myself. Well... that seems rude.

I wasn't one of the "cool" kids who got to go to WDW as a kid (except one 8th grade trip to Epcot) and so I didn't discover the World until about 10 years ago when I was out of college, had a real job and finally caved the these coworkers that were always yammering on about this Disney place. Fast forward and I guess I'm part of the club now. We're only about 6 hours away, so it's a pretty easy drive. I'm down 4 or so times/year. Usually Port Orleans.

Fast forward to today and 60 hour weeks in the IT field leave me just wanting to "tune out" and disconnect on vacation... so I booked FtW for a week. November 14-20, 2010.

I camped in college quite a bit, but usually just a couple of nights for a weekend. No air mattress, no power. Just a tent. Life must have been much simpler back then, right?

Am I crazy?

Probably.

So now, I have a compact car and will need AutoCAD to try and figure out how I'm going to cram 7 days of camping gear, coolers, beer err Coke Zero, a crock pot and fancy lights in there. Not to mention the GIANT green Mickey Ears and post to mount them on!

Can you tell I'm excited?

:welcome:

The Fort is a great place to unwind and relax. Enjoy your trip! Good luck with the packing, I have a full size truck and still have a hard time fitting everything

Congrats on your up coming trip. :thumbsup2

I firmly believe ,"where theres a will, theres a way." You'll figure out how to piece together all you need to take in your car,,you may havta repack it a couple times (like a Chinese puzzle) but you'll figure it out.

Don't forget to squeeze a fish'n pole in the car.

Sounds like a genius plan to me!! And I love the visual of packing via AutoCAD. :goodvibes

Welcome to the camping boards. You're gonna LOVE the Fort. It's the perfect place to relax and unwind.

Oh yeah, and I hear there are a few "ok" theme parks nearby too...

Have a super trip!!

I hadn't even thought about a fishing pole. See, this is getting dangerous.

And I do love a puzzle... just not sure if all of the pieces will fit!

It sounds like you have most everything under control. I'm sure you will have a great time. Just don't forget your blender! It isn't the Fort without Kungaloosh!!!

Trust me, the blender is already in the "box" (which is becoming a stack of boxes). Sweet blended drinks aren't usually my thing. In fact, when someone asks "What's your favorite mixer?" I usually answer "Ice", but I figure when in Rome....

I think you're sandbagging. There is no autoCAD program in the world, that could match wits with a college student, jamming a car full of stuff for that "post finals" ride home.

I remember those days. Two college students could easily pack the bed of a full sized truck and the cab (so high we couldn't see each other). If the car ends up like that, I may have to just leave some of the food at home to make room for the Kungaloosh supplies.

Welcome. sounds like you have a handle on the situation,
IDEA!! rent a minivan or full size if the other suggestions don't work. But I agree, a large cargo container(topper) should do the trick..we all have "been there and done that"
Good Luck and keep the ice, well on ICE!!!
