First Time at Pop - not terribly impressed

So, how much are you guys paying for PoP now a days? I have a feeling the prices of this place would be the most offensive thing to me.

Like any Disney resort, it depends on when you go. You can stay at Pop during Value season at rack rate for not much over $100. Throw in a room only discount and your stay can go under $100 per night.

Nothing offensive about that! :thumbsup2

I also have to agree. I stayed there in September and really was not that impressed with POP. Our luggage did not arrive into our room until almost 9pm when we landed in Orlando around 230pm. They claimed their key did not work getting into the room and wondered how we got in it (we used magic bands). I felt the food was just OK because I could get the same stuff from the parks. We also had a musty smell to our room that took a couple days to get rid of (we stay 5 nights / 6 days). I really did not get that "Magical" feel staying there. It felt like just staying at a regular hotel to me.

Ya, less than $100 a night is a justifiable price I believe.

Most of my disney stays have been at a value resort, mostly the All Stars. Usually my party is small enough or just me so a value resort works for me. Last trip we stayed at CSR which I thought was great. My ultimate stay would be AKL or the POLY.

We had always stayed at CSR and this last trip we stayed at ***. (is that the right abbreviations for All Star Sports? Just looks wrong haha). Anyway, it wasn't good at all. Food court had lousy food, room tiny, bathroom not great, pool was loud, just not great. but I did like the theming and the CM's were as awesome as always.

It was under $100 per night last mid-August. Maybe $74 with the Orbitz 15% off promo? I was looking at last minute bookings about 2 weeks prior to trip.

I stayed at POP years ago but the thing that got me was the spring sticking up from the mattress into my back, I joke about it to this day. It was just myself and my son so I had the bed to myself and slept on one side because that spring was right in the middle.

I'm definetely a hotel snob and stay at Beach Club or Dolphin most of the time (I tend to go once a year). However, I've stayed in Pop quite a few times either at the beginning or end of a stay and I really like the place. The food court is great, the layout is good, and I love all of the decorations on the walls in the lobby. Plus you really can't beat ME and all the other perks of staying onsite.

Thanks for the review. We are (more than likely) staying at a value for the first time in January and are deciding between AoA and POP. Reading others reviews really helps. Basic is fine with me, it's the no coffee maker and double beds that give me pause....

My family typically stays at Pop but sometimes will stay at a moderate. I find the bathrooms smaller (or just as small) at the moderates and they have the same outdated floors/grout issues, the only advantage at the mod is the double sinks. I agree that they need shade over their bus stops. They did this when they built AOA so I'm hopefully that will be a future improvement. I do like the lines for busses at the values over the cluster of people at moderates/deluxe. I was at POR in September and it was chaos at the South depot. While POP may not be for everyone, I think it is a great place to stay.

No way the bathrooms are smaller or just as small at the moderates. Everyone has their opinion on where they place value but I would not have the OP believe the bathrooms are smaller.
