First Time at BWV 5-14-5-21 any last minute advice?

Any last minute adive for staying at the BWV. this is my first time. Three kids 7, 3, 5moths?

I have never been, so no real advice from me. Hope you have a great trip!

Enjoy yourself, I've stayed at BWV twice (my home resort is BCV) and enjoyed it both times. No real tips or anything, unless you have specific questions.

Line up a therapist for the 3 year old. The Clown Slide is scary.

Go at the kids pace... bring stuff to read durning nap time... remind the kids to walking quietly thru the hallways... have dinner at the Brewery and sit out side... Instead of beaches and cream, try the ice cream place at the Swan (or is it the dolphin) I have heard it is better, and your kids wont see SAB!!

It is not a scary clown, the poor guy is just sick to it's stomach... keeps burping up kids all day. Must have been the buffet...

The Boardwalk is a fun place to stay and your kids will love it. There is an oversized "sofa" as you enter the lobby that your kids might like taking a picture in (assuming that it's still there).

There are also various spots along the Boardwalk itself where your kids can buy "fish" food (although the ducks tend to get to it first) and they can feed the fish (or ducks). My daughters LOVE to feed the fish/ducks and watch them race for the food.

I'm sure that they can get their faces painted at booths there on the boardwalk and, of course, there are always the surreys.

One of my favorite stops is the bakery (I like to get the rice crispy treats). I also enjoy the candy shop.

You can also walk over to Fantasia Miniature Golf Course for a round or two of minuature golf...or just walk over and through the Swan, Dolphin, Yacht and/or Beach Clubs.

You might even catch a wedding at Sea Breaze Point on the boardwalk (that's where we were married).

And right on past Sea Breaze Point is a bridge and off to the right of the bridge is the walkway to Epcot's International Gateway.

You can also reserve an Illuminations cruise and they will pick you and your party up right there at the boat dock at the boardwalk. (We took our wedding party on an Illuminations cruise right after our ceremony).

And I've just scratched the surface....As you can see, you'll have plenty to do and will have to work hard to NOT have a good time...

What type of room/villa do you have?

If you enjoy the items at the bakery, there is usually a loooong line in the morning. The bar in the Bellvue lounge (I think that is it's name) also sells the same pastries and bagels in the morning. Then in the evening they serve drinks. The lounge is located over in the BWI side of the resort. You just need to walk thru the lobby and it is right there. It took us a couple of trips before we realized it was there.

We were at BWV in April. I didn't buy a refillable mug because I thought it would be inconvenient to refill. But on my last day, I saw lots of people with mugs at the pool taking them to the pool bar for refills. Looked fast and easy. But if I was staying again, I think I'd get a mug at the new Beach Club gift store/food area and walk over every morning for my coffee. I ended up walking over there every morning anyway, just for the fun of it. I like mugs to use but also as a keepsake.
Make sure you take the time to be on the Boardwalk between about 6-9 a few nights. They have different entertainers and it takes a few nights to see them all.

What type of room/villa do you have?

I am staying in a studio with a boardwalk veiw the first 4 nights, then to a 1 bedroom the last three nights with a standard veiw.

Check-in before you go the the parks because in your Welcome Home folder, there is a special Photopass offer for DVC members that give you 50% off of 4 pictures but you have to use the Photopass card that is in the folder. Then, when you see a photographer, give him/her the Photopass card to put your pictures on. Have a great time!

Take advantage of the monorail in Epcot. We like to go early on the bus to the MK and then when it gets crowded ride the monorail to Epcot. Usually the front of EPCOT is less crowded at this time because the people that arrived in the morning have moved to WS. We then walk back through WS - stopping for a beaver tail in Canada or fish & chips from England.

Have lunch or an early dinner at ESPN and get their chicken wings. We get the "medium" heat ones...they are spicy, but not so spicy that you can't eat them.

I "second" the suggestion to take an evening or two to enjoy the Boardwalk itself.

There is a beach on the YC/BC side of the water. If your kids like playing in the sand, they might enjoy that, although they cannot go into the water.

There's a hair beading thing over near the BC too. If you have little girls, they love that, although it's a bit expensive.

Renting one of those surrey bikes is fun, although there are a couple of hills that can be a bit tough!

The Bellevue Lounge idea is a good one. That's a cozy little spot.

Enjoy your trip. Remember to take a break midday, so the kids don't get over-tired and cranky.

Adding to the already great suggestions:

Community Hall, located by the quiet pool, is great. There are video games, foosball, air hockey and ping pong, all at no cost. You can also borrow DVD's and VHS's for your 1BR at no charge. Check out the sign right outside the building, there are kid's activities all day long, some with a fee, some no fee (i.e. like organized games at the pool or water balloon toss).

At night there are entertainers on the boardwalk. I've seen clowns, magicians jugglers, and (my personal fave) a pianist on a bicycle just to name a few. Lotsa fun.

If you are lucky your standard view room may have an illuminations view, but you can always walk a short distance just past the ESPN club to the bridge and have an awesome view of the epcot fireworks during illuminations.

The resort is shaped weirdly imho. It took me 2 trips to find the shortest route to everything, so I suggest you carry the resort map you get at check in with you at all times, unless you like going around and around to get to things.

I know you have kids so this might not be practical, but if you take the boat from MGM it is fastest to get off at the Dolphin and walk a short 2-3 minute walk over to BWV. I think it's a pet peeve of mine, but every time that boat stops it seems like it takes forever to get going again, and I am not the most patient person on earth. Oh, and if you just miss the boat on the way TO MGM you can walk over the same way TO the dolphin to pick the boat up there, no need to rush, you'll get there first even at a snail's pace.

Since BW bakery is crowded in the morning, (as another poster already mentioned) I find it is most convenient (and saves precious time in the morning) to buy something for breakfast at the bakery the night before.

Although the rooms close to the elevators are very nice for Epcot if you end up at the far end use the staircase if you're going to MGM, it's much more direct. If you have strollers I imagine this may not be practical, as you'll have to carry them down the steps. But if you do opt for the stairs here's a heads up--sometimes you don't realize that a door IS a staircase, look for the lit EXIT sign to be sure.


Your 1BR will have a washer/dryer, but when you are in the studio you can still wash your laundry for free. It's another door that's hard to spot, but the laundry room is right next to the health club, Muscles and Bustles. Although it looks like you need to add quarters you don't, just push the slotty-thing in and the machines will work with no money in them.
