I'm doing my first solo and I'm kind of nervous. I'm doing it because my daughters will be with their grandparents and I don't want to spend New Years Eve alone here in Puerto RIco. First I'm going on the DCL Dec 29-Jan3 and then will spend several days on the POP Cent. Not sure what parks I'll be visiting. Any suggestion???

My suggestion is take your time, eat where you want to eat (even do a sit down dinner or two), go where you want to go, sleep in if you want to and pamper yourself. I always enjoy EPCOT, love the world showcase and visiting all the countries. Try something new that you wouldn't normally eat. Don't be nervous, you will have a great time. :goodvibes

I find all the parks are great, including Downtown Disney. I suppose I enjoy Epcot the most, but any and all are always fun and interesting. Don't worry, just take it slow, smell the roses, take it all in.

Do you go to WDW often? I go fairly regularly and actually try to avoid solo trips. But when I am on one, I like to make a mental list of all the rides or attractions that I love that my friends or family don't, and hit them a bunch!

In June I went to WDW alone for the first time. My DSis (usual Disney travel mate) stayed home at our new farm to care for the critters. It was an experiment to see if we liked going solo. She came down to WDW after three days and I left two days later leaving HER on her own.

This is how it went : I had the good weather, very hot which I like. I ate at Cape May Buffet on my own- very enjoyable, I went to Garden Grove at the Swan for breakfast because I've always wanted to. The next day for early dinner I tried the Trails End at WL Campgrounds. In between I ate CS. I was always treated very nicely. I met loads of nice people ( I'm shy but I respond to friendly people)
In the parks I talked to anyone who would speak first to me. I used the single rider lines and went on all my fav rides.
I stayed at POR for the first time- just to try it. I really loved it but I'm a park commando so I left before breakfast every day and returned after midnight. I swam in the private pool at that time every night.
I think I could have enjoyed the resort more.
When DSis arrived, believe me, I was very happy to see her. After I left, she had three days of steady rain.
In the end we both agreed we enjoyed our time together more than solo. Much more. We get together so well it's scary. And we live together.
But, if we cant get away together, I would go again solo. It all worked out very well. Do all you want to do, talk to people, no one I met made me feel uncomfortable.

I take a solo trip each year. As a matter of fact, in 15 days I'll be in WDW alone! DH and I try and go for a week in the summer but October is my time!! I love it!! Don't get me wrong; I love being with my husband in WDW. But when it's just me I go to bed when I want, get up when I want, go where I want and eat where and when I want!! :lmao: And while we're on the topic of dining, as the previous poster said you are never made to feel "out of place" dining alone. I actually find that the servers seem to pay more attention to me since I am alone! I've eaten in many table service restaurants and this trip I'm going to Cape May Clam Bake for the first time ever!

I think once you take your first "solo trip" you'll love it. :thumbsup2

I'm another solo 'newbie' - I went on my first solo trip this year in May and absolutely loved it.

Not once did I feel lonely or uncomfortable, I met some great people through the Dis and ate a few meals/met in the parks with them, other times I was completely solo. I ate solo at Flying Fish, Cap'n Jacks and Rose & Crown, I was treated very well at all of them, in addition to getting reat tables (although I ate at the 'kitchen' at Flying Fish).

I loved not being tied into doing things with others, if I wanted to hop from one park to another and then head back to my resort (BWI) for an afternoon nap I could.

The worst bit for me was the flight from the UK, I hate flying and having to do it solo was a bit difficult, but I did it :woohoo: and I'm planning my next solo trip for November 2011.

I did a solo trip last April and loved it so much I'll be back by myself in a couple of months.

I loved Epcot solo, AK solo and MK solo. DHS was just ok but I didn't feel really comfortable there solo for some reason. It's not my favorite park anyway so maybe that's why.

I only did a couple of Table Service meals. I actually had a great time doing those.
Don't be nervous to talk with the people around you while you are waiting for rides or your table at a meal. I met some wonderful people just chatting in lines.

If you aren't shy and see a people trying to take photos of their whole group, volunteer to take it for them. I got a hug from one woman since her whole family (there were alot of them) hadn't gotten together in years and she was thrilled to be in the picture with them.

Have a great time!
